Their friendship flourished through two seasons of playing together for the Golden State Warriors and, more to the point, hanging out and laughing after practice to the extent that Manute Bol named one of his sons after Chris Mullin. Each went his own way when their NBA careers were over. Mullin, an All- Star player, would return to the game as an executive with the Warriors. I met Manute once (after his playing days) and he definitely comes off as a gentle giant. What happened was definitely tragic, but it's nice that the Warriors can do something for him.
I Read the artcile in the Chronicle last week,and i think it's commendable that Mullin is getting this together for his old teammate. This shows how much Class Mullin and the Warriors organzation have. :thumbsup:
It's definitely a shame what has happened to Manute since he left the NBA. From what I remember, he went back to Africa and proceeded to give much of his money away to his tribe. I also recall hearing that a good portion of his money was stolen or embezzeled over there as well. In any case, this accident is really just icing on the tragedy cake. I certainly hope he can turn things around. Hopefully with a little help from former teammates he'll be able to.
