Ferdinand: Fifa Bringing Racism Into Football

Former England forward Les Ferdinand insists Fifa is bringing racism back INTO football considering the paltry sum the world governing body issued to the Croatian FA.

England's momentous 4-1 rout over Croatia in the World Cup qualifier in Zagreb was marred by racially insensitive monkey chants aimed at powerful Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey when the former Liverpool forward received a cautionary booking for a foul on Niko Kovac.

Fifa reacted to the racial abuse by fining the Croatian FA a pitiful sum of £15,000, and former England international Les Ferdinand believes the amount to be so insignificant that he accuses the world governing body of bringing racism back into football.

A frustrated Ferdinand is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "I seem to be questioned about FIFA's punishments every year. And do you know what, I'm sick and tired of commenting on the latest lack of action."

"As far as I'm concerned, we are trying to kick racism out of football in our own country. But FIFA, handing down these piddling little fines, seem to be doing a great job of bringing racism back into football," he concluded.
