<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The FIFA Football Committee, bringing together some of the world's finest male and female players as well as other top personalities from the game, considers the 6+5 rule in principle as necessary and also advisable from a moral point of view, but expressed certain doubts as to its effectiveness.

Meeting on 4 February under the chairmanship of FIFA Executive Committee member Franz Beckenbauer (Germany), the FIFA Football Committee addressed a range of topical issues regarding the game, such as the 6+5 rule, artificial turf, goal-line technology and FIFA's refereeing assistance programme (RAP). Lively debates yielded a variety of statements and opinions, all motivated by the common objective to preserve the essence of football and to improve the game.</div>

That is an older article, but GolTV just announced that FIFA officials have agreed to the rule today. It may all likely go through now and I honestly didn't think it would have any support. Clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Inter are going to be screwed if it does goes through. Let's take a look at the rosters below.

Arsenal - 28 foreign/12 English (Only two English players involved in the first team, both youth)

Liverpool - 25 foreign/12 English (Only four English players involved in the first team, two used frequently)

Chelsea - 20 foreign/8 English (Only six English players involved in the first team, three or four used frequently)

Inter - 23 foreign/4 Italian (Only Marco Materazzi is used in the first team, ouch)

Manchester United look decent right now and are in a good position to adapt well enough, take a look.

Man United - 15 foreign/10 English (Seven English players rotate in the first team and are quality players)

Interesting rule. There's a rule just like it, popularly known as the "Russian Rule" in a couple of European countries' basketball leagues (only you must start with 2 local players out of 5). It usually really helps smaller countries develop their players, though I'm not sure how effective it'll be with the bigger leagues and clubs.

Outrageous. With what they are demanding fans pay for tickets and merchandise, the fans are entitled to see the best team possible on the pitch. The Gunners are screwed.

This won't really effect big 4 teams (except for Aresnal). The English players will get more expensive. The better foreign players will go up. This will really effect transfer fees, handcuffing the smaller clubs.

It would have to be 6 domestic players at the least. Of all the biggest clubs, Arsenal, Inter and Liverpool are for the worst.
