Major points to note: Aaron Brown secured the 3rd RB spot. DT Shaun Smith was cut. LB Bing made the cut over Follett. WR Jennings made the roster. DT IAF made the roster. CB Roberson looked good in the preseason but was hurt and the Lions placed him on IR. 4 QBs on the roster with the injury to Stanton RB CASON IS HISTORY!!!!! I'm hoping we can get Gronk, Robinson, Follett, and Murtha on the practice squad.
Im kinda upset that Colbert didnt make it. Not that he was any good, its just his name is Colbert. Im also kinda suprised that they cut Smith, he was a big run stopper, with AP and Forte in our division we need a guy to plug a hole. I am woundering if and when Drew comes back if Pepp will be the one getting cut, becouse we really dont need 4 qb's?
The Lions have announced they have cut defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis, cornerback Cletis Gordon and receiver Adam Jennings. The team also announced the earlier reported trade of quarterback Kevin O’Connell to the New York Jets. According to a team press release, the Lions received an undisclosed future draft pick for O’Connell. The Lions grabbed O’Connell off waivers last week after he was cut by New England. He was a third-round pick of the Patriots’ last year. They also have claimed return specialist Yamon Figurs off waivers, according to the National Football Post. Figurs, a third-year player, was waived by Baltimore on Saturday. in 2007, he became the first player in Ravens history to return a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in the same season. The Lions signed seven players to the team’s practice squad: receiver John Broussard, tight end Carson Butler, running back Tristan Davis, linebacker Zack Follett, center Dan Gerberry, tight end Dan Gronkowski and offensive lineman Lydon Murtha. The trade of O’Connell and the release of Brooks Bollinger on Saturday could be a good sign that the Lions believe Drew Stanton will be ready sooner rather than later as he recovers from arthroscopic knee surgery. The Lions have also reportedly claimed Minnesota Vikings cornerback Marcus McCauley off waivers. McCauley, a third-round pick from Fresno State in 2007, was waved by the Vikings on Saturday and picked up by the Lions, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. McCauley, 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, started one game last season after starting nine as a rookie. Based on their last-place finish last year, the Lions get first dibs on players who have been waved. That trade is great. We got O'connell for nothing, and we fliped him for a draft pick. Droping IAF is a head scracher tho, we are weak at D-Line and we picked up a DB and a return man... Positions we are weak at, but we also need to pick up a D-line guy now
