Without Bias Brandon Inge- #3 in AL Wins Above Replacement, 12.3 with his bat, 8.3 fielding Matt Kemp- On the value scale his bat is worth 12.9 and fielding worth 10.1, so a little less offensive performance than sandoval but much better defense being played. With Bias Carlos Pena- leads the AL in HR, and I like the Rays, not repeating his gold glove performance last year. 15.7 bat -1.9 fielding Pablo Sandoval- high avg, dont like the dodgers, defense is below avg, 18.7 batting -1.3 fielding If you take out the bias and focus on a baseball players whole game just not all offensively it would be Kemp and Inge, but if the final vote guy is just in there for a pinch hitter I would go with Pena, Sandoval
He still doesnt play any position great on defense. At 3B, 52 Games Started, he has a UZR of -1.4 which is #9 defensive 3B with min 400 Innings in the NL out of 12 3B. At 1B he is a little better with a very small sample size of 17 Games Started at a UZR of .1 which put him as the #5 NL starting defensive 1B behind Ryan Howard. Whereas Matt Kemp is #2 OF in UZR of OF who played over 650 Innings, losing out to Jay Bruce by .1 UZR point. UZR (ultimate zone rating): The number of runs above or below average a fielder is in both range runs and error runs combined. Ben Zobrist has played 6 positions this year, but he has is better defensive at certain positions like 2B (7 UZR), and RF (4.4 UZR) but has struggled with LF (-1.0) and SS (.1 UZR). Its more important how many positions you can play defense at a high level than how many you can play total.
