PHXBlazer1 just got hot and no one could catch him. Congratulations on the domination. Thanks Gramps for adding a little something extra to each game with this prediction game. Will there be playoffs?
I stopped playing the prediction game in December... coincidence? I THINK NOT! Thank me for my non-participation!
Because, despite being a normally rational person, I am RIDICULOUSLY superstitious about the Blazers.
Back at you sir. Im not sure who truly had the anti jinx power kr perhaps it was the captain planet affect, our non participation power combine with mags vowing not to post powers.
I have maybe half a dozen negative superstitions about the Blazers: 1 - they do worse in-game the more I participate on the forum in game threads. 2 - they are more injury-prone in-game when I attend games 3 - they do worse game-to-game when I participate more in forum prediction games 4 - they do worse game-to-game when I record the games off the radio 5 - they do worse game-to-game if I listen to a previously recorded game on a game day 6 - they do worse in-game if I have not "done my best" during the stretch between previous game start and game start time. Number 6 is the big one that literally makes my live a Puritan hell: It started off as a game I played with myself in college; I chose to believe that the Blazers were more likely to win if I attended all my classes (this was a mind-hack to get me to actually attend classes). But, Inception-like, it took over my thinking in unexpected ways: If I shirk on my chores, slack off at work, forget a major thing with a deadline, act mean to someone, whatever, the Blazers are likely to perform poorly. And - AND - this is temporal, represented quarter to quarter. An example: The Blazers have two days off between Game 1 and Game 2. So Game 1 - Off Day - Off Day - Game 2. That means that you have four 18-hour blocks of time, each with three sections I have to take care of properly: Game Day 1 - 7pm to Off Day 1 - 1pm (Evening chores, overnight toddler care, morning work) Off Day 1 - 1pm to Off Day 2 - 7am (afternoon work, evening chores, overnight toddler care) Off Day 2 7am - Game Day 2 - 1am (morning work, afternoon work, evening chores) Game Day 2 - 1am - Game Day 2 - 7pm (overnight toddler care, morning work, afternoon work) As you can see, for this upcoming game, I have an individual superstition for each four-minute block of game time. If I slack off during the morning of Off Day 1, the Blazers will suck for the last four minutes of the first quarter. If I get into a fight with my wife because the toddler is crying in the middle of the night during Game Day 2, the Blazers will suck during the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. "You're fucking insane," I hear you say. Yes, you're right, but this is accurate to my experience. For example: In November and December, I was bored, lazy at work, depressed, fat, dealing with the failing health of various parental folks... absolutely at my lowest point in years. But instead of sinking deeper, over Christmas Break I agreed to take on a stretch assignment at work, I vowed to lose weight in 2016 for my health and longevity, I started to help around the house more because my wife had to help her parents. I worked on my music and released three albums in three months. I also stopped recoding games, participating in the forum games, and posting in the game threads too much. What happened to the Blazers was obvious. This insane, terrible quantum connection between my latent protestant shame and the randomness of an NBA basketball game have combined with my stupid magically thinking brain to form a Guilt Voltron. The more frantically I work on my life, the better than Blazers do. This month, I agreed to two more stretch assignments, I'm working EVEN HARDER at home, and I'm trying to be the nicest person I possibly can be. I've lost 20 pounds, I feel great, and the surviving parental units are getting more healthy. I'm still fucking insane, but the Blazers have overachieved as much as I have this year. I can't argue with the results.
Speaking of superstitions... I have now attended 16 regular season games in a row spanning the last 3 seasons and we have won every game. Im telling you.. you want a ring next year? Get the Blazers to get me season tickets and ill guarantee 41 home wins!!!
Not insane at all. I went to game 4 vs Dallas. I remember being down 23. Life sucked out of the rose garden. Half time was here so we dipped out of the 300s to lay up inflated priced coors light offerings. I prayed, dear god, take my knees and give them to roy for 1 last incredible performance, a hearty amen and $30 worth of coors light we entered the arena. I dont remember the exact time but suddenly to my left a giant blaze robot erected from the 200s section it kept getting taller and the crowd for no reson at all, got louder. I could feel my knees weaken and suddenly roy took over and provided the most spectacular quarter of basketball ive ever seen. How do i know this is real? My knees still randomly buckle out of no where when walking, but it was worth it.
I was at that game was well. I remember thinking, "If the deficit gets to 30 I'm leaving"... I don't think I've ever high-fived or hugged so many strangers. But you could FEEL the perfect anti-jinx energy in that 4th quarter... all of us giving our energy to Roy. It's dusty in here. I'm not crying you're crying shut up.
