<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bernie Bickerstaff always said he?d review whether he should keep coaching at the end of every season. But I suspect this review will be more than cursory.

I asked Bickerstaff on Sunday whether he could picture Raymond Felton and Brevin Knight continuing as the Bobcats? starting backcourt beyond this season.

"I don?t have any fear of doing that,?? Bickerstaff said, "but a lot of issues have to be resolved.??

In other words, Bickerstaff might not be the one deciding who?s a starter in November. He?s always said he?d kick himself upstairs someday to concentrate exclusively on being general manager.

Bickerstaff says he?ll make this decision after the season is over, and it will hinge on whether he believes, at 62, he has the energy to fill both jobs effectively.

Personally, I?d like to see him coach one more season, to get the team on stable footing for the next guy. It was wise to have one man in both jobs, because Bickerstaff has stuck to the long view over immediate gratification.

Since the playoffs are nothing imminent, that long view is still the way to go.</div>
