How old were you when you got your first job? And what was your first job? And if you don't yet do you plan on getting one? I'm 14 about to turn 15, I don't have a job, just curious.
I was 15...It was at Tim Horton's Drive Through. Horrible, stressing job but I loved getting paid, even if it was only minimum wage.
My first job was at McDonalds as a cashier (surprise surprise!). I was 15 (underaged) and got paid minimum wage! A whopping $5.35/hr...that was 8 years ago. It sucked, but hey...money was good to get back then.
Got my first job this summer at the age of 18. I offload trailers at a Sears Warehouse for 11 bucks an hour. The job's tiring as hell and I'm glad I can finally quit in a couple weeks. Made about $4000 for uni, though.
^^ I worked at sears too for a couple of years. Tools/Lawn and garden. the management sucked there...i hated those bastards.
If you don't count paper routes, I am on my first job. I work as a park attendant at Ontario Place (www.ontarioplace.com), a poor man's Disneyland, and get paid close to $9.60 an hour pre-deductions. Basically, all I do is stand around and guard the rides, make sure kids are tall enough, have tickets, etc. Made about $2400 already, latest paycheque was $760. EDIT: Got the job in March, was 16 then. Started in May when the park opened for the season.
My first job was at at Dominion back in the day. I think I was 15 or 16 at the time. Was happy when the money, but nowhere near the money I'm making now as a bartender.
I'm still at my first job- I work cashier at Rite Aid. It's not too bad, I sit around for 8 hours, doing basically nothing, then get my pay check every 2 weeks.
First job was Bill Miller's BBQ, WORST place ever, i was working my way to the top in 8 months then they hired female workers and i got demoted all the way to busboy. Then they wanted me to work my graduation night, when i said no they wanted to fire me so i quit. Now i work for the city of san antonio and make about five time what i did there.
Two summers ago when I was 16 I worked for a computer company running cables through schools for about $7/hour plus overtime. Last summer I worked at a lawfirm running errands for attorneys making $9/hour plus gas (full time - no nights/no weekends). This summer I decided to work a few weeks as a counselor for a christian summer camp for fun and had an absolute blast.

Mine, I was 17 and worked as a Courtesty Clerk, aka Cart Pusher for a local grocery store. I made 5.15 an hour to start. It was a job I took to get an early work release from high school. After a few months they raised the base rate to 6.35.

I would love to work at Ontario Place or perhaps Wonderland....OP more cause I believe it'd be easier. However, how did you get that job? Someone put you into it or you just dropped your resume there and got hired? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Last summer I worked at a lawfirm running errands for attorneys making $9/hour plus gas (full time - no nights/no weekends) </div> Since I am aspiring to be a lawyer, I am curious as to how you got that job at the age of 17?

Probably when I was about 14 or something, worked at my dad's job. I was an intern at Mega Store at around that time too, although I can't remember if it was before or after. After that I worked at my mom's job, converting flight maps to a new system. Right now I have two jobs, one as a carpet cleaner/floor carer and one as a phone salesman.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Junoon:</div><div class="quote_post"> Since I am aspiring to be a lawyer, I am curious as to how you got that job at the age of 17?</div> My mom has been in the legal profession for 25+ years and has worked for most of the major lawfirms in town. I had aspirations of being an attorney so she called up one of her old bosses(who was managing partner of the lawfirm) and it turned out they needed a "runner" for the upcoming summer. Job fell into my lap really. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">wow so you started this site @ 15 thats awsome</div>

Got my first job when I was 17, as a Warehouse Assistant, nice pay rates, $17.50 an hour, $700.00 a week. Now I'm 19 and looking for employment, my friends Dad is opening a restaurant down the road, and he is apparentley going to hire me as a Kitchen Hand, then maybe take me on as an Apprentice Chef, which I'm looking forward to.

What did you exactly have to do as a warehouse assistant?
