I've had read several articles about the whole San Francisco thing with the first pick and all and came to a conclusion. THEY NEED HELP! Both offense and defense. But there was something that stood out the most. They need a better QB. So since there are many candidates for the draft, I'd expect them to get the best, Alex Smith from Utah. But I've have been arguing with some of my friends and they think that Kyle Orton is a better choice. And I've checked with "The Pros" and most of them think Aaron Rodgers. So its a three sided battle.

If you chose Another QB, please state the name and the college they went to.

If you chose Another Position, please state the name, position they play, and the college they went to.

Kyle Orton will likely be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round. Rodgers was the leading candidate because he loves San Fran, grew up idolizing Joe Montana and REALLY wants to play for the 49'ers.

However...at the combine and in other workouts, Alex Smith lit it up and impressed a lot of people. That's why the "experts" who originally said Rodgers are now saying Smith is the man.

I took Rodgers in the mock draft, but if I had to do it again, I'd take Smith.

They have to go with Alex Smith. He has lit it up. The 49ers need some serious QB help, so if they dont take him I'd be very surprised.

The 49'ers could just pull a "Vikings" and just not pick until they want to... You know...ignore the clock until it gets to #10 or something... Heh heh...

I dont think the 49ers have a chance this year so it really doesnt matter who they pick.

Never know when a team is going to catch lighting in a bottle. A bad team can turn it around in just one year.
