Major changes possibly awaiting for the Rockets and Mavericks Time to take a quick look at what's gone on in the NBA playoffs now that we're already two weeks into the postseason ... but just one quarter done. Three rounds to go. ? So, let's get this straight. There were many who were outraged over Latrell Sprewell's antics following Minnesota's Game 4 victory over Denver on Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center. In case you missed it, after the Timberwolves defeated the Nuggets 84-82 to go up 3-1 in that series, Sprewell hung around the court long enough to taunt several Denver players and eventually go jaw-to-jaw with Jon Barry. There were actually some who suggested Sprewell should have been suspended for Game 5, a game Minnesota won on Friday to close out the series. Give me a break.</div> <div align="center"> Full Article </div>
The 1st round has been seen filled with sweeps and 5 games series. Only Miami and New Orleans are still fighting at it but there won't be alot of drama there. And I think the 2nd round won't be alot better even with the some great match-ups like Spurs and Lakers, Kings and Wolves, Nets and Pistons but the schedule is strange. For instance, the Nets vs Pistons they face each other today than on friday. That won't give that much drama and passion too. I don't like this years schedule at all. It's like the teams drop by to play a game and leave for a couple of days and come back. It is like a concert tour from Rock Stars. They drop by for a concert and go on the road again and to another city. That won't help stir more drama, suspense and passion for the series. This year needs more passion and drama and I have yet to see any.
they should go back to a 5-game first round format...much more drama and the underdog had a better chance of winning
Yea I loved the upsets, and plus to be honest, The 1st round doesnt attract people who arent Die HArd NBA fans.
I'm also upset with this year's schedule. The breaks from game to game are too, long in the second round. Of course those change all evolve around the all mighty dollar, although the US dollar is quite weak at the moment. The problem with giving teams so much time between games, kills the momentum and excitement fans are looking for and it dilutes the grind of the NBA playoffs. The Lakers actually get to fly back to LA for 2 days to rest up and recover from their game 1 loss. Before, they would be forced to stay in San Antonio and have only 1 day to prepare. I don't like the 7 game format either. It makes it close to impossible for an underdog to win and prolongs the inevitable. When they first made the change I was open to it, simply because it meant more basketball had to be played. However, I never expected the additional games to be so one-sided and boring. Most of the closeout games in each series this year have been lop-sided, and the losing team simply gave up after losing 3 times. Here's a recap of the closeout games... MIN 102-91 (11 pt margin) DET 91-77 (14 pt margin) SAC 119-118 (1 pt margin) LAL 97-78 (19 pt margin) SA 110-97 (13 pt margin) NJ 100-94 (6 pt margin) IND 90-75 (15 pt margin)
I was thinking why they don't just start the season in early November again too. Get back to the 5 game series in the first round and start the playoffs back at April 22. Well at least tomorrow they'll be 2 games on, but I wish the Lakers and Spurs was playing tomorrow too.
Yeah I agree about the suckiness in the schedule. Take for example the Detroit and NJ series, by the time game 2 starts, the excitement over the game 1 blowout would've died down. The only series in the 1st round who's toe to toe is the Heat and NO series. The weird thing is, no one seems to pay that much attention.

Nothing better than two very evenly matched teams going head to head with each taking care of their homecourt. Seriously who wouldn't want to watch Wade v Davis?
Who wouldn't want to watch Wade hit a three to ice the game for them? It seems as if fans became contented to watch KG and the wolves dominate the Nuggets, Kidd and the Nets sweep the Knicks, Shaq and Lakers manhandle the Rockets rather than watch the Heat and Hornets slug it out for game 7. In case you haven't noticed, the reason why fans watch the other series is because it features KG, Kidd and Shaq. Not to mention KMart, Kobe, Sam etc. Let's go Heat!
Lmao this year sucks mainly cause there're no stars enterin. Vince, Iverson, McGrady, Ray Allen, LeBron... we missin good ol' days of one-on-one games.
