Didn't the Winterhawks win the Memorial Cup in 1998?

Oh. You didn't say "pro team" in your post, and people do pay to see the Winterhawks.

Dude, you're equating something called the Cascadia Cup with an actual sports title?!? This is what the Oregonian says about it,

"Notes: By defeating Vancouver in two out of three games this season, the Timbers won the Cascadia Cup, a fan-based competition between Portland and Vancouver that is determined by the best head-to-head record."

Wow, that's Craptacular! Congrats! What time is the parade tomorrow? :biglaugh:

    Haha!

That's awesomely unimpressive. I'd say the Winterhawks Memorial Cup in '98 is a much greater accomplishment than winning the USL's equivalent of the Civil War. Congrats to the Timbers, I guess though. Any time a Portland team wins, it's a good thing.

The Memorial Cup was a much greater accomplishment. If it's this important to fans that the Timbers get a title maybe they should have the team play in the Special Olympics. Everyone gets a medal!

Was this one of those soccer games where they didn't keep score and all the players got Capri Sun and little boxes of raisins afterward? You're all winners!

If the cup were a little bigger they could have used it to help cut down the wait for the bathrooms.

Winter Hawks ... what a joke. If I wanted to see a bunch of pimple-faced 16 year olds skate around on a crappy ice rink, I'd go over to Lloyd Center.

I thought it was 666 too, but from reading talktimbers.com, it was actually CK6! The TA used to chant 666 after the Timbers scored five goals, which doesn't happen often especially in the goal stingy USL1. The 666 chant first was heard at PGE Park in 2004 after the Timbers dropped 6 goals on the Edmonton Aviators, which happened twice that season. The Timbers won their first trophy called The Commissioners Cup in 2004, which is awarded for finishing the season with the leagues best record. The Commissioners cup was created after the the 2004 season, during the USL's postseason "General Meeting" then awarded to the Timbers retroactively. I'll take it though :ghoti:
