Alright, so I fixed a major problem that everyone here should be aware of. It's a VERY simple fix. Lately, I've been having problems with my IP address being banned here on SportsTwo. Not RipCityTwo, but the whole website. The problem is easy to spot: it will come up with the basic SportsTwo format, and it will say that your IP address has been banned. And you can't sign out or do anything about it. I addressed this with Sly through Twitter, and he assured me that it's not them. So I thought "hmm...then it must be me." So it has worked off and on. Some days, I seem to have access to the forum, and others I don't. Just now, I experimented with a couple of add-ons that I have in Firefox, and I immediately found the problem: Browsec. Disable this extension if you have it, and the forum will work just fine. I've had this extension for a while now, and I'm not sure why it's suddenly decided to give me problems on this forum. But there you go. I disabled Browsec and refreshed the page. Boom, problem solved. I hope this helps. Let's spread the word on here if anyone else is having problems, and maybe a Sticky can be added up top.
I just opened this thread to write this "you bought the forum and banned HCP" So basically the same thing.
Spammers use browsec vpns to spam the site. I banned them for good reason. One of the best features of this site is the near zero amount of forum spam. That's no small feature.
I appreciate the "no spam", thank you. I just like my privacy online (which is a bit of a misnomer I know), which is the only reason I had it. I don't even know how spammers use it.
People don't know but a tiny fraction of what we do to make this site run smoothly. I would rather not bore people with the deatails.
Oh I'm under no illusions about how difficult it is to maintain a site like this. I've been a member of the largest firearms forum online, GlockTalk, for 12 years, and I've spoken numerous times with the owner, Eric, who's had the site up, I believe, since 1999. The sheer amount of work he puts into that forum is insane. And it's still free membership, which means he also manages a ton of sponsorship to keep the site running, which is something (just one of the many things I'm sure) us members never see. I appreciate how hard you guys work for us, so thank you.
Denny does a hell of a job in maintaining the forum. Spam on some forums on the net is awful The forum runs faster than most forums as well If I wore a hat, I would tip it to Denny now!
