The Calgary Hitmen welcomed a new addition to the roster Tuesday.

    Well, the practice roster, anyway.

Passing the puck back and forth with the likes of Ian Schultz and Joel Broda was Calgary Flames forward Rene Bourque.

With his ticket to Germany booked for Saturday, the NHLer wanted some quality ice time before competing in the 2010 IIHF world championship.

“I was skating on my own for a few days, but it’s tough by yourself. Not doing any drills, there’s just no tempo,” says the 28-year-old Bourque, who plans to skate with the Hitmen again today and Thursday.

“It’s nice to get out there and feel the puck, make some passes, shoot on some goalies. They were kind enough to let me come out for the next few days. I need it, so I’m happy they let me out there.”
