Hell no. Flip was not a good coach in Minny. He basically met or didn't match expectations in Detroit. Plus, we don't have a great track record with Dumars' castoffs
Flip Saunders isn't a great coach. He lacks the desire to win and always comes off as disinterested during interviews.
If signing Saunders means no Collins, than hell yes lets sign Flip. Still would rather bring in Shaw or Rambis and run the triangle with Gordon/Deng/Beasley though. Rambis might be the right coach, he went 24-13 in 98-99, he beat the Rockets in the first round of the playoffs before getting swept by the Spurs (who won the championship). That is some good experience for an essentially "rookie" head coach. I think Paxson would be an idiot to hire Collins.
http://www.detroitbadboys.com/archives/200...ybodys-in-play/ Meanwhile, Joe Dumars has a different approach to things than the Bulls: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>“This will not be a long, drawn-out process,” Dumars said about a replacement for Saunders. “The next coach is going to be handed a good team. You worry more when you don’t have the players to compete at the level you need them to.”</div>
Seems Dumars doesn't have to wait around for William Davidson to mull over who's going to be the coach
I think Avery Johnson will be the next coach of the Pistons. It'll be a shame that Paxson let him get away, to a division rival no less.
Bulls not interested in Flip, according to the trib: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>In fact, there were unconfirmed signals the Bulls also might interview Jazz assistant Tyrone Corbin and Rockets assistant Elston Turner again. Turner, with 11 seasons of assistant coaching experience, would fit the profile mentioned in a Tribune report that said Paxson planned to interview a veteran coach whom nobody had identified. The Bulls aren’t believed to have much interest in Flip Saunders, whom Detroit fired on Tuesday. Sources said Pistons assistant Michael Curry, a candidate high on the Bulls’ list when this search began, would succeed Saunders in Detroit.</div> It irritates me that Paxson premised this whole coaching search fiasco on being “open-minded” and suddenly a top level coach becomes available and the Bulls don’t even want to talk to him. What the hell. I’m not even in the “Flip is the man” camp, but Pax has been looking for someone to come in with a workable plan for months now. There’s no harm in talking to the man.

Paxson hasn't talked to Johnson either yet. I think it is pretty clear we aren't looking for top tier. If you look at the top 3 winningest coaches the past 3 years: 1. Avery Johnson 2. Gregg Popovich (1 wins less than Avery) 3. Flip Saunders (2 wins less than Avery) Lets not talk to two of the best coaches in the league! Hurray for open mindedness!
