<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders, speaking publicly for the first time since his successor was hired, said it should be an "interesting" season for new coach Dwane Casey.

"I guess we'll wait and see how it plays out," Saunders said Wednesday. "Personally, I like Dwane. He's a guy who has paid his dues, coaching in college, then an assistant in the NBA. He's a guy who has been close and never gotten an opportunity, and now he's got an opportunity. Most coaches who have never been a head coach at any level, once you get an opportunity, now you have to go out and show the things you can do.

"Unlike a lot of situations, (Minnesota) is a veteran team that has shown that it can win. I think that's a positive for a young coach walking into that type of situation."

How does Saunders, who will be dearly missed in Minnesota, believe the Wolves will do under Casey?

"It will be interesting to see how it all plays out; a lot is going to depend on the style of play they play with the players they have," he said. "He's a young coach who's energetic and enthusiastic. He's going to work hard.

"He's got a mixture of some guys. The big thing is going to be how do they all fit in."

Saunders would be considered a decided favorite for the Detroit Pistons' coaching job if Larry Brown leaves, as rumored, but wouldn't comment on his coaching future.

"Don't ask because you're not getting an answer," he said.</div>
