"Think the Panthers have high expectations for winger Michael Frolik? They must, considering some have called his past season a bit disappointing.

Others aren't so sure about that.

``He scored 21 goals,'' linemate Stephen Weiss said. ``That looks pretty good in my eyes.''

Truthfully, the Panthers just expect quite a bit more out of Frolik.

Just 22, Frolik is one of Florida's quiet names. Although he plays on the top line alongside center Weiss and left wing David Booth, those other two seem to overshadow him as Nathan Horton did last season.

Frolik knows the Panthers need more from him -- the same can be said for each of Florida's forwards -- and he is bound and determined to get there in this, his third season in the NHL.

``It's exciting to play on this line and my goal is to stay with them as long as possible,'' said Frolik, who scored 21 goals in each of his first two seasons with the Panthers. ``Everything that happens in the past, good or bad, you have to learn from. I'm focusing on being more consistent in my game, being there every night.

``You may not have that edge every night, but you have to try to do that. Hopefully it's there all year.''

Playing alongside Weiss and Booth should bring plenty of opportunities for Frolik -- it's why coach Pete DeBoer said his numbers weren't what they could have been last season.

Frolik's 21 goals as a rookie in 2008-09 were a nice surprise, considering he started the season in the minors and toiled on checking lines with fewer scoring chances in the early going with the big club."
