Don't get fooled again!!!! You know, one of the biggest mistakes in recent memory was the Packers's decision not to re-sign Craig Hentrich when his punting contract was up. They did the same with Josh Bidwell last year and now look at the mess the kicking game is in... If you want to know just how huge this mistake is, check out this little tidbit... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Packers are in this predicament because they decided not to re-sign Josh Bidwell after last season for what would have been an affordable price. Bidwell reportedly received only a $150,000 signing bonus as part of a three-year contract with Tampa Bay. In the draft, Sherman traded up to select Sander and gave him a $583,630 signing bonus as part of his four-year rookie contract.</div> How's that for a kicker? (no pun intended) Re-signing Bidwell would have cost the Packers lest money than this rookie punk we just drafted. Good lord... My urge to defend Sherman as GM weakens every year.
He was supposedly the best punter in college football last year, out of Ohio State. Thus far in pre-season he has been positively wretched! I don't even know if he's averaging 32 yards per punt. Regardless of talent, he wasn't deserving of being drafted in the 3rd round.
That sucks. For a Super Bowl team, you dont want to lose games just cause of your punter. Huge mistake.
Bryan Barker just joined the team to push the kid for the starting job. My guess? He'll get it... Sherman's going to have egg on his face for this one.
