For one season, who would you take between the following safeties? Lawyer Milloy, Ed Reed or Roy Williams? My vote has to go to Roy Williams as i think he is the player with the most upside.
I would take Williams for the same reason. Also, I believe his experience would be more helpful than Reed's.
Roy williams and ed reed tough to pick but roy gets the nod. He hits like a train reminds me of lott or current dawkins.
In one season, I fail to see how upside would effect my decision...Ill take Mr. Reed, not only is he an excellent ballhawking safety, but hes a premier special teamer as well

I am sure Reed & Williams been in the league the same amount of time.
Well considering where the ravens took reed he turned out much better then expected. Late first had things been diffrent ed would of been top 3 pick. Besides he is former cane and we all know how well canes do in the nfl. Watch out for s taylor.
You want a good young safety, look at Michael Lewis of the eagles. His heart-condition pushed him into a 2nd round pick. I think him and Dawkins are going to be the best safety tandem in the league this coming season.
i am not sure what you mean about the ravens not expecting reed to produce like he did where he was picked. He was the 24th pick in the draft, there are not many safeties taken in the first round of the draft so usually when one is drafted it is because he has the potential to be very good. there is no way he would have been taken top 3 simply because he did not have elite size/speed to be taken that high. i would say he has produced exactly like expected.
Bearsfan ive counted over 20 threads in these forums and ive noticed that every single comment you have a disagreement with my post. Its annoying! one thing, i did not say the ravens didnt expect reed to produce. I said the ravens got a player who turned out better then they expected. Maybe i outta be more specific cause you seem to come back with some disagreement on the boards. Ravens took a saftey who they thought was a great saftey, they thought in the future he would be a great player at his postion They did not expect it to happen in his rookie year. This comes from billick himself and other ravens players around reed when asked what they thought of some of the younger players they took in the first, reeds name came up. Now bearsfan is that clear enough? Or would you like to disagree as usual? Again just a prime example of another great cane player taken in rd 1.
I dont think you could go wrong with Reed or Williams. I think Reed has performed better, but Williams is technically playing a little out of position and is not being used to his potential. I think the answer comes down to what defensive players you have playing around them. They serve slightly different purposes in their offenses, and probably will continue to. A few of us at work got into an argument like this when we were trying to put together an all-time team (of people we have seen play) when the mention of Deion Sanders was made.
Bucs40etrain-----you expect Bearsfan1 to agree with you when you say moronic things like Reed could have been a top 3 pick. Ed Reed could have been more like a top 10-15 pick. Roy Williams was 8th overall, but that s because he has more upside and potential than Reed. Not to take anything away from REED.
Its just Bearsfans style, he likes to disagree when he may sometimes actually agree. I'm sure he'll disagree.
if you dont like my post bucs dont read them. i am not holding a gun to your head. no one is making you read the post, just skip by it and continue on in ignorance. I am sorry you continue to put post on the board the are completely and totally inaccurate, and that i continue to post corrections to the things you are saying so that others do not spread the misinformation. I know you have a personal vendetta against me now and i will do my best not to upset you.

Or better yet how you claimed Vilma from miami is slow and small. Thats why he is regarded as the top linebacker to be taken in the draft this year. And last how you claimed tampa had over 11 players on our salery cap hitting our cap at 70 percent. When that was way off , course i had to clear that up with a sense of reality and the truth. Give the nfl salery cap numbers to the whole forum and add it up for you. Personal nah never. I could follow every one of your threads and disagree with every single comment you make for the fun of it, but that would be paul brownish.

Same goes for who i think is the better saftey in roy williams.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bucs40etrain)</div><div class='quotemain'>Or better yet how you claimed Vilma from miami is slow and small. Thats why he is regarded as the top linebacker to be taken in the draft this year.</div> Umm...Vilma measured in at 6-0 and 228 lbs at the combine....thats really small for a NFL LB....in fact, a lot of safeties are that size or bigger(Sean Taylor is 6-3 220)....although Vilma ran decent times hes not going to be able to play at that weight and he is going to likely lose speed and quickness as he bulks up....I would say BF1 is right about that one, Vilma is dreadfully small, and if he gets bigger, he will become much slower.....unless hes gonna play safety, I dont see him as a 1st round player....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bucs40etrain)</div><div class='quotemain'>Basing it on how ed reed played and has played he could of very well went top 3 have you actually watched the guy play? Same goes for who i think is the better saftey in roy williams.</div> So your saying that after seeing everyone in the draft play, Ed Reed could be a top 3 pick?? theres 2 ways to look at a draft, with info we had before the draft, or info we have now....obviously with the info available before the draft Ed Reed was mid to late 1st round prospect, taken 24th overall by Baltimore....now we have seen him play a few years and your saying he could be a top 3 pick, so what if all the teams could have a redo....would Ed Reed go in the top 3?? Lets see who might go before him..... David Carr?? I think so, hes shown enough to justify his selection, he gets better every year and looks like a franchise QB....so that 1 guy that would go before Reed Julius Peppers?? 20 sacks after 2 years and a Super Bowl appearance in Carolina....I believe that the Panthers would pick him again before Ed Reed....so thats 2 Dwight Freeney?? 25 sacks in his 1st 2 years for a team that went to the AFC Champ game....I doubt the Colts would trade him for Reed, so thats 3 guys that would go before Ed Reed.... Roy Williams?? A tossup depending on who you prefer, but I would say hes gets picked before Reed because of better measurables....so thats 4 Jeremy Shockey?? This one is a toss up, both have been productive and neither plays a high profile position, so Im gonna hold off on this one.... Clinton Portis?? Most definetly would go before Reed....maybe the 1st pick overall, certainly the most productive player from that draft at this point.... other players that still might go before Reed include : Joey Harrington , Mike Williams, Quentin Jammer, and Bryant McKinnie.... so theres no way in hell, even with the way hes played, even if they league decided to do that draft over, theres no way Ed Reed is a top 3 pick....
ok bucs lets set some things straight 1) i said in that post anthony thomas was dominant, and someone came back with a smart comment and i backed of and said he was good, and that his fumble numbers were dominant. 2) As for vilma i said he was undersized and not fast for a linebacker, beef already set you straight 3) i said 11 players were taking up 80% of tampa's cap went and found the 11 players salaries i was talking about and posted them and it was i believe 66% of there cap. so i admitted it wasnt 80%(that right i admit when i am wrong) and then posted the 11 players and their salaries and proved it was 66% of the cap. I know this is exactly what happened because i found the post and read it to make sure. It actually is split in two posts. I say 85% in one post, beef says 80% you say there is no way and then i get a list of the players and show you. that is right i posted the players and their salaries to clear it up not you. 4) i also noticed you have yet to my post on laughingstock about how all the bucs are in their mid-20s, i am still waiting for you to "show me the light" even though i went and looked up all their ages and proved they are old on "d" the sad part is they are older on offense, their line is old, their qb is old, their backs are old, thier recievers are old, and galloway hasnt produced in a long time. Dont worry though PB, errr bucs maybe you can become adminstrator on another site like this one were if someone disagrees with you, you can ban them and delete their posts, oh wait you already are. I understand you have a personal vedetta against me now and i will do my best not to upset you.
