Trust me, Charlotte isn't going to get but maybe 1 or 2 people worth mentioning. The rest will be a bunch of scrubs.

lol , not a lot of people interested on the bobcats I guess but I think there will be more than 2 persons worth mentioning...when was the Raptor's and Grizzlies' picks? I'm sure we will know who a lot of players are at the end a lot of them will be traded.

You are right, the Bobcats are going to have a terrible team for the first few years of their organization. I cannot see them even being competitive with other teams until their 3rd and most likely 4th season. I think it will take 6 years before they are playoff worthy. This can all be sped up if they can sign a big name free agent and build around them. Even though this is doubtful, some players want the oppurtunity to prove to the world that they can lead a team. So you might see a few jump to Charlotte however I wouldn't bet on it.

yeah, but you never know how certain players can step up. Sometimes players that just get some playing time can put up nice numbers. I mean ronald murray was just one of those throw-ins in the payton-ray allen trade, and he has turned out to be a pretty nice bonus. Nobody thought he was that great, did they?

It seems a lot of people are comparing the Bobcats to the Raptors and Grizziles... THE NBA IS NOT THE SAME!! When the Raps and Grizz drafted, first off they went back and forth, the Bobcats don't have to share their draft. Also teams in the NBA are financially minded now days... so teams are willing to give up good players with big contracts. Also the Bobcats get to take bribes, so watch them to stock pile a ton of draft picks...

In the draft they will probably take quite a few big contracts, but when the season starts I doubt they'll have them on their roster (they'll cut them and that takes them off their cap, but they still have to pay 'em) -- on their cap/roster they'll have young inexpensive players, or players with contracts ending after the 05-06 season, because in 06-07 they'll have a full salary cap and I'm sure that's when they'll do some big time free agent signing.

Just like the NFL's Houston Texans, they will have pretty good players avaliable to draft due to contracts, unlike the Cleveland Browns did... sports isn't like it used to be, you can't compare expansion teams to those in the past... with the tax threshold and need to sign free agents, teams are willing to give up players to free up cap space (i.e.> Marbury, Ray Allen (last year), and Abdul-Rahim are players who were traded to gain cap room).

I don't think Charlotte will be competetive their first season... because Charlotte has already made it a point to say they are going to build on youth and cheap contracts, which means bench players and inexperience. But let's not forget they are in "the JV division we call the East" (Stephen A. quote) so to say 6 years (or even 4) is not taking into account that currently the 6th seed in the East has a LOSING RECORD!! Charlotte should be competitive their second season... they'll have at least 2 good draftees (I'm sure it will be more with all the draft picks teams are throwing at them to take contracts off their payroll) and in their second season they should have at least begun developing a core group of guys.

I'm not sure if people realize that Charlotte is the savior for most NBA teams... they can take bribes, take players to trade to another team for other players... so let's say Miami leaves Brian Grant avaliable, and another team wants him, that team will trade Charlotte players/draft picks, just to pick him and trade him to their team. Not to mention Charlotte may want some of the unprotected players (i.e.>> Danny Fortson, Luke Walton, Steve Blake) -- I'd love to be the Bobcats right now, they are going to be the center of the NBA this offseason, they have a $0 payroll and have so many rules on their side (i.e.> draft a player, cut him, and not have it count against their cap) they should be competitive in the East within a few seasons.

That's a great point...If you combine the best players in that Raptor-Grizzlies expansion draft, its not THAT terrible...

    Greg Anthony was very good..
Trevor Ruffin was an offensive machine
Byron Scott was still kinda solid
    Benoit Benjamin was pretty good
    Blue Edwards could score
BJ Armstrong was a great shooter
    Tony Massenburg was decent
    Jerome Kersey was good
Dontonio Wingfield had major upside and was suppose to be great
Keith Jennings was great according to Big Nasty

MY point is in retrospect, a lot of these players were garbage..but during those times, u can sorta compare Ruffin to a young bobby Jackson, or greg anthony to derek fisher, kesey to Rick Fox, Wingfield to Gerald Wallace etc etc...When u see who the Bobcats select, its not gonna look too bad, you're going to see a lot of solid and promising names...but ten years down the line, they won't look as good...

Besides, most of the players in their roster will be draft picks, and free agent signings...most of the guys drafted in the epansion draft won't even be on the team...

I agree with Scorbutic it will be their 2nd season when they will have a chance well maybe their 3rd because a few teams in the east are going to be great next season I.e: Cavs , Magic , Wizards(hopefully) and maybe Hawks with all their cap room and stuff.

But you can go crazy if you think in all they can do , there will be so many trades like that Brian Grant scorbutic named.
