Indiana Pacers backup point guard T.J. Ford, who said several times this season he would pick up his $8.5-million player option, made it official Friday. The Pacers plan to try to trade Ford this summer because he has never fit into coach Jim O'Brien's system. Ford lost his starting job again this past season and averaged 10.3 points and a career-low 3.8 assists in a career-low 47 games.
