<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Villarreal striker Diego Forlan has told skysports.com that he would be open to a return to The Premiership at some point in the future.

The Uruguayan star spent two-and-a-half years at Manchester United before moving to Spain in August 2004, but his time at Old Trafford was dogged by underachievement with Forlan scoring just ten times in 63 league appearances.

His first season in La Liga saw him answer his critics in sensational fashion by sharing the European Golden Boot award with Thierry Henry, and the 27-year-old is currently pleased with his lot at The Yellow Submarines.

However, after attaining cult hero status with The Red Devils, Forlan says he would be prepared to return to English shores if the opportunity presented itself.

The striker was linked with both Portsmouth and Barcelona over the summer, but Forlan insists a firm offer from the Catalans never materialised.

"One day I could come back to England, as I keep a fantastic souvenir of my experience," Forlan told skysports.com.

"People have talked a lot about the possibility I could join Barcelona last summer.

"But their interest was limited as I never received any official offer.

"Anyway I am happy at Villarreal, there is a great atmosphere at the club.

"We are all good friends, it is like a family."

Reflecting on his career at Old Trafford, where he endeared himself to the United support without ever catching fire in The Premiership, Forlan spoke fondly of the time he enjoyed working under Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I have only positive things to say about my Manchester United period," Forlan added.

"I have won the Premiership title with a top club, played with great team-mates.

"I felt very good there, even if I haven't played enough. The language barrier wasn't a problem."

After reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-final last season, Villarreal have struggled in La Liga during the current campaign with a succession of injuries to their star players affecting coach Mauricio Pellegrino's plans.

Forlan is confident that when the likes of Robert Pires return from the fitness room, The Yellow Submarines will resurface higher up the Primera Liga table.

"We could have done better since the start of the season.

"We are an ambitious team and want to achieve great things, but our team suffers a number of injuries, and that doesn't help.

"Robert [Pires] will be a big boost for us when he comes back. He is a top class player and will add skills to Villarreal."</div> [IMG] Sally Gunnell returns [IMG]

Doesn't fit. He belongs to Spain, it would be a very bad idea to play in England because he may suck again.

As much as I love Diego Forlan/Sally Gunnell/Micahel Bolton, he just doesn;t work in the Premiership. Stick in Spain as he clearly fits that style of play.

    Still, DIEGO-WOOOOAAAAH!

    Love him.
