"The long wait of more than a year finally is over for Reily Twp. native Jake Richardson. The former Miami University punter said he signed a two-year contract on Tuesday, May 4, with the Cincinnati Bengals. "Awesome," said Richardson, who said he had worked out with some Bengals players earlier in the day. "It's every little kid's dream." "We've been wondering when in the world this was going to happen," said his mother, Mary Richardson, of Reily Twp. "The Lord works in mysterious ways." Richardson was one of the nation's top collegiate punters as a senior at Miami in 2008 but went unsigned during the entire 2009 season despite attending the Chicago Bears' rookie camp and also working out for the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts. "I was just hoping it would happen, that I would get a shot," Jake Richardson said. Richardson was named as Miami's MVP following the 2008 season, when he set a school record and led the Mid-American Conference with a punting average of 45.38 yards, fourth-best in the nation. That year he was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game, where he averaged 47.3 yards on six punts. His competition on the Bengals will be Kevin Huber, the former University of Cincinnati who had a solid season as the team's rookie punter a year ago, averaging 43.2 yards." http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayt...ami-punter-gets-deal-with-bengals-686365.html
