Nearly two months ago, rumors flew that a member of the Carolina Panthers had been ensnared in a high-price call-girl operation that was taking down various prominent Charlotte-area businessmen. (The name of the Panthers players has not been released, yet.)

Now, the Charlotte area has produced news of a high-stakes gambling operation, and news that a former NFL player was present when police conducted a raid. The player’s name has not been released because he was not arrested.

According to CharlotteObserver.com, other NFL players are rumored to have been previously present at the home where big-money poker games were being played.

“It just wasn’t a bunch of guys sitting around a table Sunday night playing nickel and dime poker. This was big time,” Charlotte police officer Steve Selogy said.

And, as Seology explained, that situations like this are hardly harmless.

“Fifteen, 20 cars a night, also it’s a gambling house, prostitution-related places, eventually there is a homicide,” Seology said. “Word gets out they are going to have an armed robbery and a shootout and that’s not good for anybody.”
