<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Like everybody else, we were saddened to hear that Cotton Fitzsimmons, three times the head coach of the Suns, is gravely ill after suffering a stroke as a complication of his battle with lung cancer.

It's regrettable that it takes bad news like that to get us thinking about what the guy has contributed to basketball.

But even back in April when Jerry Colangelo was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Fitzsimmons said: "I don't know why it took so long with everything he's done," we wondered if maybe it shouldn't have been the other way around.

Not that Colangelo doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.

But doesn't Fitzsimmons belong there, too?</div>

Yes he was. He was a great coach and a pleasure to watch when i was young. He got the team ready that was handed to paul westfal. Paul was handed a championship team...it should of been Cotton's team.

Pleasure to watch this coach when i was young. The Suns were fortunate to have him in the orginization for such a long time. He was one of the best talent scouts out there....
