Why do players leave/get traded, and then start talking about their old team? It happens all the time, and I notice it a lot with former Suns players, and new Suns players (they always claim they are happy to be here because (insert team) sucked, blah blah blah). New York media almost got Marbury to do it, and in-fact he did take a few jabs at Phoenix... but it wasn't bad, and I understand because New York media was telling him lies and just trying to make him say that stuff. It's a long list for Phoenix though, Barkley, Kidd, Rodney Rogers, Cliff Robinson, etc. Now it seems Googs has gotten a few remarks in... <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Tom Gugliotta:</div><div class="quote_post">"The way it was in Phoenix, it was hard to stay focused and go to practice every day with a good attitude. It was hard to have fun," Gugliotta said. "I was a gerbil in Phoenix, running on the treadmill for countless hours."</div> Well the way it was for us with you here was like you didn't do anything and cost us a lot of money, hindering any kind of upgrade of talent... so stop whining and collect your tens of millions of dollars for making sure the bench was nice and warm for Amare and Shawn. Why doesn't he just keep quiet and go on with his soon-to-be-over career? I like Tom, he's a good guy, as a fan I enjoyed having him on a team, he's doesn't have a bad attitude and doesn't get in trouble... he hustles when he can, and nobody here has ever blamed Googs for how it turned out (we were too busy pointing fingers at Penny ) he could have possibly died, so he had health issues that he couldn't have changed, we understand that, but now he gets traded (to benefit his career, mind you, next year he'll make more money if he shows he has anything left, rather than riding the pine in PHX) and begins to run his mouth about Phoenix... it wasn't as bad as Kidd's remarks, but I suggest former players stay quiet about their team, if they weren't man enough to bring it up while on the team, don't be a wussy and act all big now that you are safely away from the team.
Maybe there is a legitimate problem. Plent of people gripe about the management in this post. Scott Williams is the only exSun I can remember who had kind parting words. He said after the NY trade the locker room was more comfortable and alive with the young suns rather than big free agents. Another reason I don't want Kobe.
Remember too, Barkley started talking trash in the summer before getting traded. What's ironic is that's how he got traded to Phoenix, by talking trash about Philly. "The owners are treating me like a piece of meat." -Sir Charles Now he's more like a butterball.

Now that you look back Horry and Cassell were pretty good catches, but I still think getting a bunch of 1st round picks + cash, or just trading him to another team for another all-star player would have been the better choice. But yeah Barkley at least talked trash while he was still in the Suns uniform, he made it well known he wasn't happy... he didn't put a fake face on, then get traded and say "Phoenix and the Suns suck". In fact he had some decently nice things to say about Phoenix, the fans, and his first few years in Phoenix. He showed that he did have a good time here, he just had a beef with management in his latter years.
And unlike the others, he's made peace with Jerry C. He's even getting inducted into the Ring of Honor later this month. Maybe some day well see Jason Kidd's wife-beating face in the AWA.
Doubt that, because Jason Kidd never did much for the Suns. Except a few playoff apearances. Charles brought MVP and led the team to the finals.
