Former University of Tennessee basketball player Dyron Nix, a member of the Vols' All-Century team who led the SEC in scoring as a junior in 1987-88, has died at the age of 46.

Former Tennessee quarterback Sterling Henton told the Knoxville News Sentinel that Nix had recently been hospitalized for pneumonia.

Nix, from Meridian, Miss., led the SEC in rebounding as a sophomore at 10.1 per game, then averaged 21.6 points as a senior in 1988-89. His 1,877 points is eighth-most in school history.
