http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2363495 I think they'll avoid Maroney in the Draft now. Foster needs to stay healthy and he'll be a bargain.
It looks like Witherspoon is out the door. I heard that he might get 10 million a year from NFL Network. Panthers have 13 million in cap room and are trying to resign SS McCree, QB Weinke, and P Baker. Panthers will most likley try find a good backup running back like Mike Anderson or Chester Taylor to give an insuarnce policy to Foster and Shelton. I really hope McCree resigns because if he doesnt panthers are forced to most likely draft a linebacker. And move Thomas Davis to SS. Well at least its a deep draft for linebackers.
Wow, did the panthers overpay. This was a dumb deal. A few more deals like this and welcome to cap hell, population: Panthers
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>Panthers have 13 million in cap room and are trying to resign SS McCree, QB Weinke, and P Baker.</div> Weinke, who is from St Paul, may draw some interest from the Vikes if they unload Culpepper or so I heard.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>This was a dumb deal.</div> Does it rank with drafting Cedric Benson who saw very minimal playing time? No.

No.</div> Ranks worse than the benson deal. Benson's deal is pretty much dictated by the players deal drafted before him and after him and the Rookie cap for that draft. Fosters deal is dictated by fair market value. Does he have some potential . . yes. Is he always injured yes. Could they have gotten him for less . . .yes. Was there a real market for him . . .no.
Less then 5 million a year is good for a starting running back. Foster wont have to carry the ball so much if Eric Shelton stays healthy.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>Less then 5 million a year is good for a starting running back. Why give that to foster when there were better backs on market, and you had transitional tag on him so you could have used another year to evaluate injury?

He would have counted about 8 million against the cap, so they saved around 3 million to spend on trying to resigning other panthers
