Mike Miller and Randy Foye. I bet Minnesota loves that trade for Foye, now. What a terrible deal they did. I'm surprised they found a taker for Thomas.
I think Washington pulled off quite a heist here. Randy Foye played decently last year, and showed signs of improvement. If he stayed in Minnesota, I would've penned that he would average at least 18PPG. Miller is a good steady vet who took a backseat last year with the Wolves and not really asserting himself. He's shown with the Grizzles that he can put up points and is a pretty decent ballhandler. Minnesota has to take on Thomas' contract, and while he's decent, he's not worth what he's getting paid. Songaila is alright, but isn't much of a difference maker, and Pecherov seems like he's gonna be out of the league soon. I don't think the #5 pick is worth Foye AND Miller. I think Foye will be better than whoever they draft with that pick.
Foye's pretty redundant with Arenas, though. Both are scorers that need the ball to be effective and need teammates to compensate for their lack of D. Foye would be a backup, I'm assuming. If he's supposed to play point, I'm pretty skeptical of how well it'll work.
That's true, but there's no guarantee Arenas can last a whole season, or even play at a level comparable to where he was at before. Foye could come in as an instant offense type guy. If Arenas looks to be back to his old self, they could trade Foye and get something decent in return. The Wizards just accumulated two assets which they can choose to use later on in a trade.
