I don't really understand this trade for the Raps, because it gives them four PG's (Ford, Martin, Calderon, and now Dixon). I like how the Raptors are playing right now, and I don't think it was a necesarry trade to make.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Portland Trail Blazers and Raptors have agreed in principle on a trade sending Juan Dixon to Toronto for Fred Jones in a swap of backup guards, ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reported. Dixon, 28, in his fifth NBA season, is averaging 8.9 points per game for the Blazers. Jones, also in his fifth year, is averaging 7.6 points.</div>No source, but here is the details
another whack trade. these deals are meaningless, all of them. where's the blockbuster deals that we actually care about?

Not a bad pickup by the Raps for a similar player in Fred Jones. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seemed like Fred Jones did not fit with the Raps(his pt was not high) and seems like both teams decided to swap players thinking a change of scenery would benefit them.
Dixon is a good shooter. He'll probably fit in with the style that the Raptors play. As for Fred Jones, ya he didn't fit in. He isn't a great shooter but we used him to drive since he's a great driver. But this whole season he's only been shooting shots and haven't really played the way we want him to. But I doubt Juan Dixon will have much time to play though. We just have to many guards that play mainly.
There's a topic on this already in the General NBA section, but Juan Dixon is a better scorer then Fred Jone and will like to play here in Toronto.
Yeah Dixon is not a point guard, he is an undersized scorer. Also, will that be the full deal? Just Dixon for Jones? If so, I like it for Toronto. They get some more scoring off the bench, and this makes a guy like Mo-Pete a little more expandable in a way.But for Raptors fans, if you don't know much about Dixon - he is very streaky. You'll love him at times but want to kill him at other times. I'm sure all or most of you knew that anyway, but just in case you didn't, that's a fair warning. For the time being, barring another trade today, it will be tough to manage all those minutes at the wing spots in Toronto. Parker at 2/3, Peterson at 2/3, Garbajosa at the 3, Dixon at the 2, Graham at the 3, plus some Bargnani at the 3 at times.EDIT: I didn't give my thoughts on Portland's side of the deal - I think it's decent for the Blazers as well. They get some energy and more of a defensive presence off the bench. This opens up a few extra minutes for Webster as well.<span style="color:#FF0000">Topics merged.</span>
Awesome deal, Bryan. Okay, here's the deal non-Raptor fans....Fred Jones was apparently being a dick in practice. The guy hasnt played for about a month now. So we don't really need him. Juan will play SG for us, not PG. He has a decent shot, so I am very happy about this. Very nice, Bryan.

Don't act like you know everything about the Raptors. And Garbajosa doesn't always play SF...Juan won't play that much...atleast we got rid of Fred, and got someone that could be productive for us scoring wise.

Garbajosa actually starts at the 3, CB4. I know he's not a primary SF, he actually can and does play all 3 front court positions, but he does in fact start at the 3 with Bosh and Rasho.2. Yes, I have seen Bargnani in there at the 3. Does it happen very often? No, but it does at times in certain situations, bro.3. I'm not "acting like I know everything about the Raptors" at all. How did I? All I said was there maybe aren't quite enough minutes to go around for all of the wings.

He is 6"9 afterall...Hardly ever happens, man...When we go our biggest, it is Garbo, Bargnani, and Bosh. Bargnani hardly ever plays SF. Only when we have Bosh, Rasho, and Bargnani on at the same time. And that rarely happens....He does play SF occasionally...but rarely, and not for very long.

I'm just saying man....He HARDLY EVER plays 3. Just wanted to point that out...some people think that he plays alot of the three because that's his position in 2k and on some other things. In fact, it's only happened for 27 minutes this year...
Good pickup by the Raptors. I knew from the first couple weeks Fred was in a slump, he didnt like it here. His body language said it all, and was really never able to produce for us, he was just on the bench gathering DNP's. However, this a good pickup because we needed a backup swingman. Joey Graham, who is forced to play the 2 sometimes, hates it, he is terrible with his perimeter D, and really has no way of using his huge body. I really hope they can keep it to Parker, Peterson, and Dixon at the 2. Graham/Peterson at the 3 and we should be fine. Its always good to tighten the rotation up a little bit, and im sure Dixon is a better fit than Jones. You got to hand it to because.
I understand this for both teams. Portland gets an athlete, Toronto gets a shooter. More opportunity for Martell Webster, and Toronto loses a head case.
