Jimmer Fredette wrapped up the college basketball awards season by winning the Naismith men's college player of the year award Monday in Houston.

Fredette, who led BYU to the regional semifinals in the recent NCAA tournament, won the Naismith voting of journalists, coaches, administrators and fans, who contributed 25 percent of the voting via text message.

Fredette was named the player of the year by the Associated Press and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He also won the Adolph Rupp trophy (Commonwealth Athletic Club of Kentucky) and the Oscar Robertson award (U.S. Basketball Writers' Association).

Fredette led the NCAA with 28.9 points per game. BYU lost to Florida in the NCAA regional semifinals.
