Darren Helm resigned in Detroit, 5 years 3.85m per. I posted previously we should target him, he plays a Hagelin style which would mesh perfectly with Hayes, but we can't pay role players that price. Glad we didnt sign him for that. Rumors are Ladd going to the Isles for 7 years. Yikes. He's turning 31 this year and doesnt exactly play a style that will hold up over the years. Radulov to Montreal? Trade Subban and bring in that fucking guy? What a huge FU to their fanbase. Hopefully this thread will have some hockey talk in it and not the usual PMS festival.
Seems to be a trade market picking up for defenseman. I think by end of the long weekend Staal and Klein are out, and Shattenkirk (or someone like him) is in. Also wouldnt be surprised to see us make a run at Justin Schultz as a cheap reclaim project.
Sounds like Okposo to Buffalo. They had huge money open for Stamkos, spent part of that on Okposo instead. I doubt they were on Nash's list, but they were a team with a need and some space. Thought that might be a possibility, not anymore.
I don't remember a July 1 in the last 5+ years where I was less optimistic that this team would do something super interesting. Girard and Staal are anvils on this team
Did anybody see the rumors on the Stepan to ARZ deal? Brooks had something on it. Apparently was a done deal until the Stamkos signing. No idea what the return was. The priorities right now should be finding a right shot for the top 9 (Vanek), and getting a puck mover on the back end. Hopefully we also find a taker for Staal.
Eric Staal to MIN, 3 years 3.5m per. Fair deal I think. Some of these other deals are absolutely insane. Backes 6m per for 5 years in Boston? 7 years for Andrew Ladd? 6 years for a 32 year old Frans Nielsen in Detroit? Lucic 7 years 6m per in EDM. Shit, thank god we're sitting these out.
Crazy deals signed today. Yowzers. Agree, glad we didn't commit on any of those. It seems like trades will be the best way to improve/shake the team so hopefully Gorton has something in the works.
Leave it to the Rangers........not a winner, not a loser, not even an in-betweener. This best describes this organization............somewhere out there! LOL
Right now a lot of GM's out there like every year are dumb and think their teams are good now. As I've always said. 95% of all GM's are morons.
