I will take these in no particular order except for Martin... <div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">For those Warrior fans that are interested and do not venture beyond this forum. No one out their that can really turn the G-state franchise around. K-mart & Rasheed are the only 2 real impact players on that list. And Rob Thorn has the check for K-marts max contract on the printing press(if he is smart), so K-mart will be staying right with us. And Rasheed seems to be headed to the tri-state area as well to play for the knicks. Or he might stay with the Pistons if they wont him back. And they go far in the playoffs. G-state will have to build up their team thru a major offseason trade or the old fashion way thru the draft.
I like K-mart but he's not going to have the same effect if he's playing more in the Western Conference where the power forwards are as big as centers. But I like his speed, dunks, defense and shotblocking. His rebounding and perimeter shooting have improved. I don't think he's worth a max contract though. But it would be fun to see him alley oop dunk over people in a warriors uniform.
Sure he will. KMart is the man. Give him a chance. How can you argue with 18ppg and 10rebs? That is better than Murphy did last year by 8 whole points.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">Murphy's points and rebounds would have been higher in the Eastern Conference IMO.</div> Of course. The way the Warriors franchise is going financial wise, I don't think they'd want to sign big players for big contracts. I expect a quiet offseason for them.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">Well than I expect another playoff-less season next year.</div> The Warriors of recent have been nothing outstanding. Last season we finally had a good year, then we traded away Jamison. All Van Exel has done this season is cry.
A lot of people were expecting Van Exel to cry this season with the way he acted when he was with the nuggets and that whole Del Harris thing with the Lakes. Some people were excited to have him because it meant a clutch point guard with skills. But injuries have pretty much limited his main strength, which is quickness. I guess Mark Cuban knew something about NVE's condition, which suddenly made him expendable or they really wanted Jamison that badly. The Mavs did want Jamison in the draft originally, but we had him reserved for us by Toronto for Vince Carter.
*bump.* Anyone know the salary cap limit that is set by the NBA? Maybe the warriors can go with a deep bench again for next year.
i'm actually more excited about getting troy murphy and speedy claxton back than any of those free agents. i've missed big troy all season.
The list isn't particularly great; maybe only one person catches my eye and that's Okur but even he won't be that impact player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting thePHentity:</div><div class="quote_post">i'm actually more excited about getting troy murphy and speedy claxton back than any of those free agents. i've missed big troy all season.</div>I feel the same way. I am more interested in seeing this team play as a healthy group than seeing who we draft or pick up in the FA market.
Signing Martin to a big contract would sorta be very similar to the Jamison signing. I don't think Martin can really create his own offense consistantly enough to be a superstar player. He's a tremendous defensive player, but i think the Warriors are good enough with Murphy and Cliff here at decent prices. I'd take Murph and Cliff at their current contracts over Martin at a HUGE contract. But from the rest of the free agents i wouldn't mind getting Keon Clark(probably not likely since i think the Suns will want to retain him), or Okur along with a Barry(Brent or Jon) or Wesley Person(at a better price than what he is being paid as of now), and Flip Murray would be great as well. Of course these are the free agents i'd like to see the Warriors go after if Dampier leaves. Speedy/Flip(?)/NVE JRich/Barry or Person Pietrus/Dunleavy Murphy/Cliff Keon or Okur/Eschemeyer/Foyle(?) Then add the draft pick, and maybe the Warriors won't end up too bad. But if Damp does go i think adding a big man and probably trying to resign Foyle should be number one priority with the FA's(Keon or Okur), then it would be perfect if the Warriors added one of the players out of Person, Jon Barry, Brent Barry, and Ronald Flip Murray; if they still had the cap space.
Kenyon martin would give you defense, some rebounding, shotblocking and some sick looking dunks. The big question is his maturity level and can he get better at extending his range and becoming better at offense? He is kind of a role player with Jason Kidd creating offense for him.
BTW Keon and Okur are not true centers (they are too lightweight). Does Okur have the defensive prowess and the post game to play as a center? And Keon would just wind up injured all the time so no thanks.
