Not surprised by this, as far as I was aware this was always the plan. I heard he would be looking for something like a $10m a year deal for as long as possible, so perhaps he would be looking for a 5 year $50m deal. That's obviously ridiculous and I can't see anyone actually giving him that (I think the $6.2m is just about right for a Varejao-type player) but it shows how far apart they are and, potentially, how drawn-out an affair this might be again this offseason. The one thing the Cavs must not jeopardise, however, is the ability to sign LeBron plus one more star come 2010.
