With AD's departure comfirmed and still no guarantees on where Flip will be playing next season (I expect him back unless a team like Denver offers their full MLE), we're obviously going to be in the market for a back-up point/combo guard. Jasicevicius has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Cleveland, and two names I've heard us linked to are Marko Jaric and Juan Dixon. I don't particularly fancy our chances of landing Jaric, given he's restricted and we can't offer him a starting role or starter's minutes, but Dixon could be a cheap value alternative. He's never really found his niche in Washington, but was very good in the playoffs. Not sure if he's unrestricted or not, is he too similar to Flip in terms of being a score-first sort of guy?
Dixon's a better shooter, but he doesn't have Flip's breakdown game (not many guys do, IMO). But for a 2 he's small, and had the luxury of playing with some big point guards in Hughes and Arenas. What I'd like to see is for us to re-sign Flip, and Weiss's new up tempo, free-wheeling offense loosens him up and clears Nate's shackles from his mind so he blossoms into a big time scorer that terrorizes the Blazers for years to come
