1. Anyone that signs Tim Thomas. Funny how whenever he plays well it's in his contract year, trust me, as soon as he signs his deal he will go back to not giving a damn like he's done his whole career. 2. Anyone that signs Mike James to a starters salary. Like Thomas he has potential but he's getting a bit old in his act. Again, seems funny that he has a monster year when he's 30 years old and in a contract year, an extra $25 million is a lot of extra incentive to work hard. 3. Anyone that signs Ben Wallace to a long and pricey contract. If he demands a lot of money I think the Pistons are better off letting him go and letting a FA, McDyess and maybe Maxiell play more. He's going to be 33 next year and will be further exposed without all the Pistons talent. 4. The Sonics if they let Wilcox go. He's the only proven post player they have right now and they need to milk what they can out of Allen and Lewis, unless Wilcox gets an outragious offer the Sonics would be foolish not to match it. 5. The Denver Nuggets, you know they will screw up. :happy0144:
I think you're mistaken on Wallace. If you asked anyone of the Pistons they'd say Ben is the most important. You can't bring someone like Mcdyess to come and replace him.I think if they let him walk the Pistons are the ones who will be exposed.I'm not one of those Piston homers who says he will last into his 40s because he works out so hard, but I will say he definetly has a better longevity than most players in the NBA, look at Zo.
If Ben Wallace demands a lot of money I think you let him go. If you sign Wallace to a huge deal the Pistons have very little if any flexability at all. Not to mention he's useless for half the game.
BCB is right - and thats what the Pistons organization is planning to do anyways. Joe Dumars had an interview on a local radio station stating that they had to be reasonable and fair to both Ben Wallace and the team. That means he'll offer what he feels is fair to Ben, and at the same time he'll be fair to the team by not killing the teams salary cap future.Honestly though, I don't think Ben will demand that much money - he has been here most of his career - Detroit fans have embraced him, and he awknowledges it. He knows that Detroit fans love him too, his teamates love him - I honestly don't think he's leaving.
If they sign Wallace, that just puts them into more cap trouble and restricts them from signing other guys. Maxiell and Amir Johnson will never get time with Big Ben in there. If he demands alot of money he needs to be let go. He can go to a team like Atlanta and help them defensive wise.

And I don't blame ANYONE for taking the money.
We'll see - I wouldn't be mad at him if he goes to another team - he has worked his ass of and he deserves to finally get his pay.

Oh yea - and no team will be offering anyone 15 mill more than the Pistons - thats impossible and stupid; no offense to Wallace, but he isn't worth that much.
I could see a desperate team offer him a deal with a one or a couple more years than the Pistons would give him.
I know kingjamez is about to say "atlanta" - but im sorry thats not gonna happen.I know a player like Ben would rathar stick with a winning team than get a couple more mills.

Tim Thomas is a lazy dude who ONLY plays well and tries on contract years. He is not worth anyone's money, unless I guess he gets signed to a 1 year deal :nasty: 2. Mike James is a pretty good player, I don't agree with what you said. He was a classic late bloomer, that doesn't mean he doesn't work hard. He is a hard worker, a good shooter, a pretty good and underrated defender, and a guy thay lays it all out on the line every night.3. I think Ben Wallace should remain a Piston. His biggest supporters are there, he's given a lot to that organization (and visa-versa). He should stay there, that team is still competitive and a top team in the NBA no question. But, if he does decide to move on, I agree he shouldn't get the deal he's been reported to want. He may still be a very effective player and a good leader, but he's getting old.4. I have heard and have seen quotes that Wilcox likes Seattle a lot, and Seattle ownership/fans love him as well. He basically blossomed out there. He has always had the talent, just the only thing was he was playing behind Brand in LA. He is going to be an important piece to the puzzle in Seattle, and should get re-signed. If not, I agree, unless he gets a crazy offer Seattle would be foolish not to sign him.5. Denver has work to do, we'll see man. A lot of things they can do. The only definites to be on the roster next year as of right now are Melo and Camby.
Mike James isn't a late bloomer, until he got to Toronto it's no coincidence that teams kept trading and letting him go. He was a GREAT streak scorer but honestly, do you think a guy thats never been consistant in his life is suddenly going to change in his thirties? Like Mike James said this season when asked where he would like to sign, 'Whoever pays me." He doesn't care about the Raptors or winning, it's all about the money with him.

Tim has showed he only plays during contract years but I think it's more that he has a fresh set of legs rather then the money. Denver is looking to shop Kenyon, there going to waive him around and see what type of offers they can get, although Camby says he wants Kenyon to stay at Denver next year. They need to add some shooters as well, Carmelo was the only one who showed up this year and he kept getting double teamed and his teamates couldn't make any shots.Ben is likely to leave Detroit as well, we all know no matter how "nice" of a guy you seem you will always turn that away for the money. If he's smart he will stay with Detroit, if he wants to play for the money then he might go to Atlanta who will give him a huge paycheck like they almost did to Dalembert a few years ago.

He is getting old and liek BCB said that would leave them barely any flexibility for the FA market. They need to get some young talent now as their team is getting old. They need to sign some good young FA now before they get to old. Plus they arent at the point where right now theyll be able to gfet much from the draft.

Pistonnick? Ben Wallace will resign. Although Atlanta will be waving money, and Toronto will have a nice package for Joe Dumars to look at, Ben's heart is in Motown. I don't think this is the case where Carlos Boozer leaves Cleveland for big money, and has a bad rest of his career. Loyalty does play a huge part in this, but your right on the money with players going for the money BCB. If Ben doesn't resign, we will trade him in a Sign and Trade deal. Toronto gave some pretty good offers already.
I think the pistons should try to get a run for Nene. They're pretty old, he would give them some young talent.
