Count guard Steve Nash and big man Mehmet Okur among the free agents who are expected to consider the Suns as a possible destination this summer the Suns could be a fall-back position for Nash, who may re-sign with the Mavericks A source close to the Pistons' Okur who asked not to be identified confirmed the player's interest in the Suns. http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=21774','11' Well Okur would be pricier than resigning Dice but there would be more longevity to the deal no doubt. Talk about international teams... NAsh? Well. Geez. What does everone think of getting him back and then trading off Vujanic or Barbosa, whomever fits the least. Tough decisions at point, especially with Gordon in the draft. Nash Barbosa Vujanic JJ Casey Marion Z Amare Okur Dampier/Camby Voskuhl Lampe and Andruiskevicius on the "injured" list I guess I'd have to give up on hoping for Brent Barry... not bad list from the looks of it. Big man trio of Amare Okur and Dampier/Camby keeping minutes down and performances up.
Only free agents i think that would look good in Phoenix are Marcus Camby or Erick Dampier. Dampier has shown what he can really do even though he's not too young and Camby just electrifies the stadium with his defense and offense. Marcus Camby would fit the Suns better not wanting as many offensive looks and all helping Amare get better. The Suns have Lampe, Voskuhl and probably that "vicius" guy at center and Amare is always going to be there main guy so not many more big men need and about the point gaurd situation i think Barbosa fits the team perfectly.
The Suns are weak at C, and if they were going for the playoffs they should sign a guy like Camby. But they are in a state of rebuilding, which is part of the reason why they decided to trade Marbury, for more cap space. I'd say they'd rather draft Vicius and let him develop than sign a FA C. They will be going after younger players, and building the team around Amare. However they could put off the rebuilding temporarily and sign a proven C or PG who could help take them to the playoffs. As Orlando demonstrated, you need a PG or C to be a good team in the NBA. They are looking good at SG, SF and PF and they don't need to sign anyone there.
I like Camby, but the injury problem is the scary thing, the Suns are going to be too filled at some positions next year.
rebuilding is all fine and dandy but people need to watch the games. Suns popularity isn't as high as it should be in it's market. They need a winning team financially. . What have Camby's injuries been like? Andriuskevicius is years away, farther than Lampe. Voskuhl isn't a starter. Depending on what kind of offseason he has maybe Lampe will be the ticket. I don't really think they should bring in Nash... but I am worried about having two inexperienced foreign points qho aren't proven playmakers. Odds are he'll stay in Dallas anyways. Any objections to Okur in the big man rotation?
I guess you're a Felipe Lopez fan, but I really don't see the need or use for him in Phoenix, what would be the reason to get him?

He said he wants to be on a winning team where he has a chance to make the all star team. Yao and Shaq will always beat him if he stays in the West. But if he competes with Illgauskus and Magloire, he could win a spot I bet Damp goes back to Indiana or something if Pollard is going to be coming off the books.

Where I have a chance to make the All-Star team, common. Anyways I'm not going to cry about where he goes, but it would be good to get him, but he'll likely go to somewhere like NYC, Indy, and in the West, Dallas?

If the lottery holds to form, Phoenix will get the No. 7 pick overall. The Suns would love to move up a few spots, presumably to take Ben Gordon to be their point guard of the future. They are one of several teams (along with Portland, Golden State, Seattle, the Clippers and Chicago) that are slated to attend Gordon's workout Tuesday in New York. In remodeling their team after they traded Stephon Marbury to the Knicks, the Suns have come to the conclusion that Marbury's replacement, Leandro Barbosa, is a shooting guard. That's why they'd like a shot at Gordon. If they can secure Okafor's ex-UConn teammate, then they can address their other needs in free agency. They'll have enough cap space to make a run at Kobe Bryant, but he's not on their wish list. All indications are that they are targeting Detroit's Mehmet Okur, who can leave the Pistons if he gets a dollar more than the mid-level exception from another team. Okur wants to get away from the Wallaces and Larry Brown. With Rasheed all but certain of being re-signed and Ben not going anywhere, Okur sees that he'll never get any playing time. He likes the idea of relocating to Phoenix, according to several teammates. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...32c.html','761' Okur Voskuhl Lampe? White?? Gordon Barbosa Vujanic? Eisley?? What about the Andriuskevicius rumor? That sounded true... We find out wednesday whether we'll be chasing Gordon or Andriuskevicius or maybe another...
League sources say Okur will receive offers for a minimum of $6 million a year and perhaps as much as $8.5 million in a multiyear deal. Phoenix supposedly rates first among suitors. The Suns think Okur's perimeter skills would be the perfect complement to Amare Stoudemire's talents in the low post. 'http://www.freep.com/sports/drewsharp/drew28_20040528.htm','221'

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If you're hoping your team has a shot at wooing Marcus Camby away from Denver, better cool those hopes. Sources say the Nuggets and Camby essentially have the framework of a new contract in place, to be formalized in July, that will keep Camby in the Rocky Mountains and still enable Denver to be among the most active bidders on this summer's market. Dallas' Steve Nash is among the free agents Denver will be pursuing, but the team with the best (albeit slim) chance of wooing Nash away from virtual blood brothers Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Finley is Phoenix. Nash never sold the house he bought as a Phoenix youngster -- his family still uses it -- and the early word is the Suns will make Nash their No. 1 free-agent target. Not Kobe Bryant, since the Suns see actually landing Bryant as a long-shot fantasy.</div> <font size="1">Full Story courtesy of Marc Stein and ESPN.</font> Nash and Vujanic and skip drafting a point guard? with Camby out Okur's a must <font color="DarkRed"><font size="1">EDIT - Make sure you use quotations and correctly link any article in future, thanks - SS</font></font>
