Free cell phones for people on welfare?

    Can this be true? Someone just alerted me to this promotion, which I had never heard of. Apparently there's a new government program that provides free cell phones and free monthly calls to people who can't afford a cell phone on their own.

    Just to put this in perspective, I'm a well-educated guy who supports myself by working, and yet I have never owned a cell phone in my life. Now, the Obama administration is going to take my tax money to provide people on welfare with something I don't even have myself???

    Do they? I've never texted anyone in my life, and I'm doing just fine. When did cell phones become a basic human right? Did I just miss the memo?
