He was 59. Williams died of a heart attack Sunday at his San Jose home, his son, Eric, said. Williams, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 10.7 points and four assists in 390 games with the Warriors, who drafted him ninth overall in 1968. That same year, the Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the 14th round even though Williams, a high school football, basketball and track standout in West Virginia, did not play football in college. He rejected the Cowboys' contract offer and stayed with basketball.
