Adrian Wojnarowski, who's been scooping everyone lately, says that Channing Frye may have found a couple of suitors: Also, he claims that Portland has more money to spend than I thought: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-freeagentbuzz070109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Or if the cap stays the same. Renouncing Channing gets us to just under 50M (like 49.983 or something)--Wojo may be saying cap will stay the same (58.68) and is calling the difference "about 9M"
I can't blame him for picking Arizona. They have a lot of attractive women (even if he is in a relationship).
If the Cap doesn't move much off of last year's figures then initially we were set to have have somewhere around 7-8 million in cap room before the draft, add 1.8 million for moving Sergio, subtract a million for Claver and potentially add 1.6 million if both Koponen and Freeland are renounced Add that all together and you're talking 9.4 to 10.4 million in cap space (adjust accordingly if Freeland or Kopo's rights are retained).
What if he got signed by Denver and started hanging with the Birdman and JR Smith! Dookie braids and Tattoo's on his neck!!!!!!
That's how I fee as well. He clearly can play and even start on 1/3 of the teams, but Nate screwed him up badly.
After the 07/08 season Nate told Channing to sharpen his outside game for the next year as they wanted him on the perimeter. When the next season came around he changed his mind and wanted him on the interior. That seemed to flip flop and every missed shot he had seemed to get him deeper in the doghouse. From the people I talked to that work for the Blazers, Nate just dicked him around terribly.
Start for 1/3 of the teams?! What Channing did you watch play this last season? He was fortunate to get the 2-3 minutes that he did.
Well, maybe 1/4 of the teams. At the end of the 07/08 season Channing started and did very well against other teams top players. He proved he could start and at least deserve solid minutes. Maybe you missed that season?
