recruiting. it definitely is better for tennessee if the recruits know that the new defensive coordinator is a long time nfl guy.
I'm not overly familiar with college football and the recruiting process, but do recruits even decide on a school in November, December, even January? Don't they wait until spring time? I'm sure there was a plenty comfortable window for Monte to finish the season with the Bucs, keep quiet about the TENN thing until the season is over, and still get those recruits.
it still is a factor though with recruiting. guys who had committed when fulmer was coach and probably less likely to decommit with monte kiffin there. and it's important that guys who still haven't verbally committed anywhere(and guys who may back out of verbal commitments places) to know that monte kiffin is going to be the defensive coordinator. losing any time is a disadvantage and some players could have crossed tennessee off the list before it ever came out that monte was joining his son. and really, this shouldn't be an excuse for the bucs. they are pro football players. and they were in position to make the playoffs. knowing their defensive coordinator is leaving after the season shouldn't bother them so much that they fall apart in their most important games.
I feel ya bro, I'm done with this bullshit too. It's hard to believe we controlled our season against Carolina just a week and a half ago and now we're struggling to stay alive. It's ridiculous.
I agree it shouldn't, but what other explanation is there? We were playing really well, we had a clear path to 12-4, or even 13-3. Then Monte starts yapping, and look at us. I don't see any other variable that could be affecting us.
Never thought I'd say this, but we really need to use our 1st rounder on defense this year. Preferably a D-tackle or another corner. Which sucks because I was really hoping we could bolster the offense with this pick.
