Anyone seen this film?I remember watching some scenes of this film when I was younger, but really didnt get it or saw it in its entirety, but I just recently bought it and watched it. I have to say this film is the most intense film I have ever seen. Stanley Kubrick did a great job on this movie. I've only seen 3 of his movies(Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, and Spartacus), but from what I've heard about some of his other works, they are all pretty good. The scene where "Gomer" is in the bathroom and is loading his gun and shoots Hartman and himself is really graphic and real to me. Anyone else seen this?
I love this movie, I bought the DVD a few years ago. It's surprisingly very funny, I laugh every time I think about it. The scene where they beat Gomer Pile with the soap really got to me, I felt so bad for the guy. Some of my favorite quotes from the movie:Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: How tall are you, private?Private Cowboy: Sir, five-foot-nine, sir.Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Five-foot-nine, I didn't know they stacked sh*t that high. Gny. Sgt. Hartman, Drill Instructor:Where in the hell are you from anyway, private?Cowboy: Sir! Texas, Sir!Gny. Sgt. Hartman, Drill Instructor: Holy dog poop! Texas? Only steers and queers come from Texas, Private Cowboy. And you don't look much like a steer to me so that kinda narrows it down.
I saw the first 40 minutes and my DVD pooped out....I got up to the part where that crazy soldier kills himself and Sergeant Hartman. Sergeant Hartman was freaking hilarious....I really want to see the rest of the movie, I think my local Wal-Mart has it.
^^Yeah, Pretty much. My favorite Stanley Kubick film was Dr Strangelove: Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb That and 2001: A Space Odessy.
