The most classless fans on the West Coast one-upped themselves this past weekend.

If you were on the Weekender in fall 2003 when, from out of nowhere, a California team knocked off the No. 3-ranked USC Trojans in football, you know exactly what school I'm talking about.

When the clock expired on the upset, Cal fans raced onto the field with one goal in mind: To head directly toward the USC student section and its band, toss objects into the stands and taunt them with jeers too vulgar to reproduce in print.

Then, in Berkeley's true definition of sportsmanship, fraternities and even sororities hounded every Trojan fan that had to walk past its Greek Row to get to their parking spot - for which they paid upwards of $50, mind you - with similar obscenities.

What happened Saturday at Haas Pavilion, though, topped all of that. Cal fans just crossed the line.

Earlier in the week a member of the Cal Rally Committee, yes it's that group that looks like a bunch of bumblebees, began talking to USC guard Gabe Pruitt on America Online Instant Messenger. The catch, though, is he was posing as a UCLA co-ed named "Victoria."

The two chatted, exchanged phone numbers and pictures and agreed to meet up when the Trojans returned home from their trip to the Bay Area.

The fan, who must have had a good deal of time on his hands, (guess there's nothing fun to do when it's pouring rain half the time) created fliers mocking Pruitt, with a transcript of the conversation and some pictures he had sent. He even changed his own voicemail to that of the assumed "Victoria."

Throughout the game, Cal students heckled Pruitt with chants of "VIC-TOR-IA," while Pruitt cracked a smile, half in embarrassment and half in disbelief as the entire section let loose during his first trip to the free throw line.

Even worse is they began to chant Pruitt's cell phone number. Talk about an invasion of privacy.

And in case someone couldn't pick it up from the cheers, "Victoria" changed his message once again, reading off Pruitt's number, telling fans to give him a call.
