Was unsure whether to put this in the recruiting thread or a new one, but I chose new one so it looks busier here ;)

Was reading this article about potential Heisman Candidates from this year's class. And two (potential) Future Ducks make the list.

It seems reasonable to have a thread dedicated to this. The recruiting thread is great but it gets scattered because of so many players.

Do you think that both of these guys redshirt this season? That would seem to help their chances for huge success down the road, since playing time should be easier to come by and they'll be a year older, bigger, and smarter...

I most def see them redshirting to start the year. Who knows if it stays on for the whole year, as a lot of times it depends on other people's health.

Carson is coming in behind a LOT of talent, in LaMichael, Barner, Seastrunk, Dontae Williams, and Huff and Hawkins can and have spelled RB's before, and I imagine they would be used before they burn a year of eligibility.

Randall comes in behind Thomas, Bennett, and I imagine Hawkins as well. I think he and Mariota will both Redshirt, but there isnt as much depth in front of him as the RB position.

probably unless the Duckies suffer a bunch of injuries... Randall could very well be behind Mariota too.

without an overload of injuries, I don't see another Duck running back making a Heisman run like James did this past year as they just have too much quality depth. Had Barner not suffered the scary concussion that kept him out for much of last season, James wouldn't have had nearly the touches he did. Kenyon should be good to go next year and of course Williams and Seastrunk are going to get some opportunities. With the allure of his amazing offense, I expect Kelly to be able to attract star runners every year so this too much quality depth problem should continue.

They won't be rotating QBs though. Whoever is directing Kelly's explosive offense will be behind a much higher thought of offensive line and throwing to much higher rated receivers. Last year Thomas put up numbers just a shade behind Andrew Luck's... whats going to happen year two of him in charge with 4* burners galore?

I can't wait. We'll have to see if any of them are as dependable as Maehl or Davis though.
