They'll come out of it fine. Basically, it's a negotiating tactic with their lenders. It will also allow them to renegotiate their leases. BTW, when I first moved to Oregon, I couldn't believe there was an entire store dedicated to my favorite action figures. Man, was I disappointed when I found out what the store really was.
