Is Game 2 a must win for the Lakers? By this I mean if the Lakers lose game 2, is this series over?

If the Lakers do not find a way to win in Game 2 this series will go no longer than 5 games IMO. The Spurs will win atleast one game in LA. The Spurs will be riding a 17 game winning streak heading into L.A and I don't know if the Lakers will be able to slow down their momentum.

The Lakers must win Game 2 to regain some confidence and have a chance to win this series.

If San Antonio has lost 17 straight games, I sure as hell don't want to slow down their momentum [IMG]

Game 2 is very important, but its not MUST WIN IMO....last season, the lakers lost the first two games, but tied the series back up...nonetheless, it is very important they win on wednesday...talking 4 out of 5 from the spurs is very daunting..

Yes. If the Lakers find a way to stab themselves in the foot and lose Game 2, this series will be over. Because the Spurs have shown us throughout the years that they are very capable of going into our building and pulling out a victory. They are the world champs, and champions know how to win important, critical games on the road. The big question is can Gary Payton wake up out of his basketball coma and contain Tony Parker? Can Shaq finally bend his knees and put some rotation on the basketball at the charity stripe? Can Karl Malone repeat his Western Conference Quarterfinal game 4 performance and actually start hitting some 18 footers? And also...can Malone find a way to frustrate and disrupt Duncan's game?

I won't be at home to watch the game because I will be in Oakland Wednesday night for the Yankees/A's game, but I'm confident they'll do all they can to spilt this series coming home to Los Angeles for a Game 3.

Game 2 is very, very close to a must win but its not. If the Lakers can pull it off, it would be huge but if not, they can still hold serve in games 3 and 4 and try to steal game 5.

Somehow Shaq has got to at least hit 50% of his FTs otherwise they Lakers are doomed. They do not have that great a margin of error. Say he hits 50% yesterday, instead of a 10 pt game its a 5 of 6 pt game which is big.

I think game 2 is critical but it is not a must win,but I think if San Antonio can beat them twice in a row they should be able to win the series.

I wouldnt necessary count them out if they lost game two, but I thnk the damage would be done. We would have to steal one in SA, including both in L.A..We need to win game two, and I think we will win it because Kobe will take over, Shaq will get the ball, and GP will have a good game.

Game 2 is a must win in my book; this isn't similar to losing game 1 against the Sixers in the 2001 Finals. The Spurs will not see fit to let us back into the series after a 2-0 lead.

    1-1 or bust.

So do you Laker fans think this series is over now or do you still believe?

    Is Game 3 a must win?[IMG]

Obviously game 3 and 4 are must wins. The Lakers are capable of winning 2 in a row, but they have to take the early lead and never fall behind. You can analyze the game inside and out, but the bottomline is the Lakers don't have anyone to keep up with Tony Parker. Tyrone Lue where are you !?!

Word. At least Lue had the speed and quickness to accept the challenges of guarding other quicker guards when he was a Laker. Gary Payton who?????

Yes, Game 3 and 4 are must-wins. And the Lakers have to concentrate on getting one home game at a time. They shouldn't think too ahead about what'll happen in the later days, but focus on one home game at a time. They certainly cannot fall behind as you mentioned, because if they do, San Antonio will capitalize and before you know it they'll have us on the ropes.

Haha yeah, Gary Payton is too busy complaining about his minutes.

It's rather obvious the Lakers must win their next two to even stand a chance in the series. It won't be easy, but for them to do so they need to contain Tony Parker. He's killed you guys and it's obvious theres still no answer for him.

The only improvement I saw in Game 2 was the amount of shots attempted by Shaq. (8-14 vs. 15-21) He had 32 points and 15 rebounds last night compared to 19 points and 13 rebounds in Game 1.

Correct...I Think If the Lakers play the way they have, and that's outstanding B-Ball,the Lakers should prevail

I Think the Lakers will win the series against the Spurs,as long as the Lakers don't get too cocky, they will prevail

You don't think the Lakers can come back from a 2-0 deficit and make it a three game series? I thought in the playoffs, you had to win four games to advance?

The Lakers are capable of coming back from a 2-0 series but its going to be hard. We MUST win game 3 and 4 no question. Then it would be nice if we get game 5 but it is hard for the Lakers to win 3 str8 on the spurs, but i think it is hard for the spurs to win 3 str8 against the lakers. But to win this series we must will all home games and steal won in SA(Game 7).

The Lakers will obviously win 1 of the next 2 games, mostly due to home cooking(the Laker refs) But regardless, the Spurs are gonna steal 1 of the next two, and win in 5. Dynasty is over, Duncan+Parker > 4 Laker Hall of Famers [IMG]

Only a ignorant, pathetic child that knows nothing about the NBA would point out that the Lakers win because of the refs. If you ever want to survive here at JustBBall, you better work on making quality posts to the best of your ability. Because right now they are horrendous.

No way the Lakers are going to take 4 out of 5 against the best team in the League who have won 17 STRAIGHT GAMES.
