``I'm all right. I'm sure if there's a will, there's a way,'' Malone said before the Los Angeles Lakers left for Thursday night's game at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

``I'll give it what I've got,'' Malone said. ``If I suit up, I expect to play and have no excuses. It feels better. I'm not doing anything today.

``I know me pretty well, I know my body. I'm fine. I'll be fine. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.''

Malone sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee early in the Lakers' 99-91 overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night that evened the best-of-seven series 1-1.

He balked at leaving the court, and wound up getting nine points and nine rebounds in 39 minutes.

``The last time I went in the back, I was out three months,'' he said, referring to a similar injury Dec. 21 in the first quarter of a game against Phoenix that sidelined him for 39 games.

``There's a comparison to that,'' he said. ``(But) I consider what's at stake here. What the hell am I saving myself for? If I can play with my kids when this is over, it's worth it to me. Just three more wins.''

The 40-year-old Malone, the second-leading scorer in NBA history, joined the Lakers last summer in search of his first championship after 18 seasons with the Utah Jazz.</div>

He gonna give it all he has. If the lakers win the championship he will retire. By him playing it gives me more respect for the guy. This means more to him then the scoring record(and it should). Although i think if he plays on one leg it might ending up hurting the lakers in the long run. I think he should sit it out. But the will is there.
