Making this game thread early because I want to get that bad loss to the Clippers out of my mind.

This will be the Warriors' home-opener, but with no crowds, I guess that factors in less this season.

Hopefully, the Blazers come out with the confidence to win both of these games against GS.

    TONIGHT’S NOTES

    • Tonight's game vs. Portland is the first of seven consecutive home games (January 1-12). The Warriors completed a four-game road trip with a 2-2 record, winning the last two games.
    • The Warriors' last home game was on March 10, 2020 vs. the Clippers - a span of 297 days.
    • The Trail Blazers have won the last two meetings against the Warriors.
    • Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard holds the Chase Center record for the most points scored in a game - 39, November 4, 2019.
    • The Warriors welcome 2021 on January 1 vs. Portland to begin a seven-game homestand, longest in the first half of the 2020-21 season. The last time the Warriors had a seven consecutive home games was December 20-30, 2017.
    • On New Year's Day, the Warriors have a 4-15 record, including a 1-2 record at home, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
    • This marks only the fourth time in franchise history the Warriors have a home game on New Year's Day and the first time since 1982 when they defeated the Kansas City Kings, 125-93, the 499th career coaching victory for Warriors legend Al Attles. Attles would get his 500th win the next day vs. Dallas, becoming just the sixth coach in league history to reach the milestone.
    • The last time the Warriors played on New Year's Day was in 2011 at Miami (L, 107-114).
    • In the first game of the calendar year, the Warriors have a 35-40 record, including a 27-15 mark at home. Golden State has lost their last two first game of the new year, after having previously won the last six.
    • The Warriors scored 99 points in each of their first two games of the season; in the next two, they averaged 122.5 points per game.
    • In the two road wins the Warriors overcame double digit deficits (10 at Chicago and 12 at Detroit).
    • Should Draymond Green play, it would be his first game since February 27, 2020 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers - a span of 309 days.
    • Stephen Curry has made his last 72 free throw attempts, setting new career-high and franchise-record streak. This current free throw streak began on March 29, 2019 vs. Memphis and that is also the last time Curry missed a free throw. With his sixth free throw on December 27 at Chicago, Curry passed Rick Barry's previous record of 60 consecutive free throws (1976). Curry's previous streak was 54 consecutive free throws made (4/12/17 - 10/29/17). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time a player had a free throw streak that long was Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki who made 74 consecutive free throws (March 4-27, 2011).
    • Including games played on December 29, Stephen Curry ranks 11th in scoring (26.5 ppg), tied 15 in assists (7.0 ppg) and tied for first in free throw percentage (1.000 FT%, 26-26 FT).

Well I'm glad we can move onto this game... or more accurately these games. I'm hoping we see signs of life from Dame and Nurk. I am hoping we see the team clicking a little more like they did against the Lakers. Just see some positive momentum carried through both games. Then we will likely see at least one win, which I'd be fine with as long as if we lose, we do so with a little dignity.

The Warriors are a bit on the small side, so this is a perfect opportunity to give Giles some playing time, especially after how well he played against the Clippers (yes, I realize it was just garbage time and in limited minutes).

Stotts, are you listening? For the love of Dame, give Harry some minutes.

If not for the fans, then for Harry G's namesake, the founder of the Blazers. I'm sure Harry Glickman would want Harry Giles to get some real minutes. :)

Yeah with Collins out for what seems like it will be an extended period i absolutely agree they need to start moving toward getting Giles involved. The sooner the better.

That would leave them at 49-23 by the end of the season if they lost and only lost 20 more after that.
That would be a really good season and we would all be pretty happy about that I would think?

The board only takes teams lightly after wins. Remember how the Blazers were going to sweep this road trip after the Laker game? Now of course after the Clipper game they will be lucky to win another game and they need to trade Lillard and Fire Stotts again. One slight variable is that CJ seems to be in favor this week. Nurk still Trash.

I look for Curry to go 40+ in both games. Easily. Portland would be lucky to split. Kerr is simply too smart for Stoffense and Tefense
