I fully expect this team to come back from this trip well under .500 and in shambles. This team is slow as molasses. They aren't tough. They are dumb. They don't do anything well. I would expect by game 25 Drury should be fired. He sucks. I would hope somebody like Yzerman becomes available. I had high hopes for Drury but he fucking sucks. First thing I'd do is trade Miller for a sure thing, young, number 2 center. I'd look at Anaheim. I'd rather have McTavish than Zegras. However, they have a log jam over there and not enough quality defenseman. McTavish is a center. Carlsson the second overall pick is a center. Zegras is on a fair contract the next few years. Miller is far more respected around the league than by some of us. Maybe throw in a Berard or a lesser prospect. Bring Robertson up. Put Gustafsson with Trouba. I'd try Lafreniere with Zegras. Move Chytil to wing where he belongs. If that didn't work. Then I would trade Lafreniere to Chicago for Reichel and a couple of second rounders. Reichel can fly. The only reason he isn't putting up points is because he plays with schmucks on his line. Then take it from there. However, Drury is so incompetent he doesn't have the brain power or balls to make moves like that.
You would think the dumbasses running the Rangers would realize the following. They are probably the best team in hockey at drafting and developing goalies. Probably one of the top 5, surely top 10 drafting or developing defenseman. They are probably the worst team in hockey drafting and developing forwards. Especially centers. It would make sense to trade defenseman like Miller for a young, close to developed center or forward and then draft or develop the replacement for that defenseman. Trade from your strength to fix your weakness. I have no doubt they can easily replace Miller eventually. I have no confidence they can draft or develop a center like Zegras.
I think they'll play well on the road trip and win 3 of 5 games at least. Start with a good win tonight in Seattle.
Looks like Panarin worked his ass off in the offseason. This is the best shape he has been in since he got here.
Didn’t watch the game but a surprising result. They seem to be going back and forth trying to figure out Lavs’s system. Anybody else notice Zibanejad doesn’t score at even strength anymore?
Outside of the no show against Nashville, which unfortunately happens in the regular season sometimes, I think the Rangers have played well overall. Seattle and Buffalo they played very strong games. Arizona, they played a strong game. CBJ, they lost, but that was such a weird game with two disallowed goals that I think totally took their rhythm and momentum away, it was fluky to me, and they didn't play terrible in that game. Not saying they'll be this big-time team, still way early, just saying they have been pretty good overall through 5 games, I think.
Pisses me off that they do the same shit with Shesterkin that they did with Lundqvist. Play like all stars when the backup goalie is in. Leave the starting goalie out to dry most nights.
Through 5 games I have to give Panarin credit. He's playing playoff hockey. North/south. Shooting the puck consistently. Zibanejad on the other hand has his head up his ass. He's sucked at even strength for well over a year now.
Agreed on Panarin. Won't really know for sure until we see him do it in the playoffs, but he is playing the right way currently. Way less East/West, and way more North/South, and shooting when he can/should. It is really good to see, as maybe after the playoffs he finally saw the light. The thing about Panarin is he's so talented, that cannot be argued. He is a true top player based on talent. And in theory his issues are very fixable. He needs to play North/South and shoot more. Those are very fixable issues if he wants to fix them, and if the coach holds him accountable to do so. So far in a small sample size of 5 games, he has cleaned up those issues. We'll see if it continues.
The Rangers are already a playoff team, Lav wasn't brought in for a rebuild he's here to take the Rangers to the promised land. The Rangers are nowhere near as bad as you're making them out to be Dump despite your unprecedented preseason prognostication of doom. Panarin earns his money, Artemi was brought in to help an anemic offense and become one of the most prolific scorers in Rangers history and has scored at least a point every game this season. I've always liked Chytil because of his skating but he's been unable to finish a play, this year he's shooting every opportunity he's open.
The one year I get the first overall pick in the draft, McDavid gets fucking engaged or married, plays like a pussy, and then he gets hurt. Women have destroyed more male athletes than alcohol and drugs.
From the point I saw game last night you have to appreciate the Team effort, and Quick having a good game after a terrible preseason.
