I really believe we need to win this game 5 and finish the Habs, We need the extra rest if we go to the Cup Final to get all these players rested especially the injured ones, i would hate for this series to drag to 7 games and we are tired as fuck for the cup final, IMO i think we are going to win game 5, we have scored first so many times this post season and we have Hank, 2 KEYS for our success. Its looking like stepan might play which is good because he does play some valuable minutes, Hagelin has been on fire lately and he has good chemistry with MSL. This team is playing good, lets ride the momentum. BTW Chuck how was the garden last night. Wish i was there. Loudest you have ever heard it?
Garden was awesome. No doubt the best game I have ever been at in person. Crowd was crazy loud as well. Great scene after the game as everyone was leaving and partying outside the Garden. Awesome stuff. As for game 5, no doubt it would be in our best interest to win tomorrow night. It would be a game I'd love to win and give the Habs no hope at all. But truth is bigger picture we need to win one of these next two games. Yes for sure we'd all love to end it tomorrow night, but as long as we don't go 7 I am okay. But better to end it sooner rather than play an extra game and give Montreal any hope. Best bet is still win our series in 5 or 6 games, and hope the WCF goes 7 games. That is our best bet to win the cup. We'll see.
but we play better on the road then at home, so losing game 5 could cause problems, i don't see how we can't finish them considering we played better then them the WHOLE series. montreal is dead, they got gallagher and suban, Briere is done, prust is out, price is out...... we beat them gaem 1 and 2 in Montreal. We have hank, Brassard, Hagelin, MSL, Krieder, all are playing amazing, hell ill even throw boyle playing great for 4th liner and doing the dirty work (pks etc) Theres NO REASON we can't finish them off.
I agree Sleeps. Get it done. All I am saying is if we do lose game 5 we just need to finish this in 6. Game 5 is not a must win. Game 6 would be pretty close to a must win if it happens. No one would want to play a game 7, in Montreal, on a Saturday night, with them having won two straight games. That would not have a high % of victory for us. So yes...let's finish this in 5 and move on. Give them no life. Get extra rest. Don't risk any injuries in an extra game. And we have a lot going for us into tomorrow nights game, especially if Stepan plays (how much does Montreal really have left). We agree for sure. My only point is IF we lose tomorrow night, we just need to take care of business in our own building and we are all good. And BTW...go Hawks tonight. Let's get a 7 game WCF. And for that I think we want a Hawks win tonight for sure.
BTW...in the SC semis teams are 35 for 36 when leading 3-1. History is on our side. Teams that go up 3-1 this late in the playoffs almost always win the series. Been since 2000 and the Devs beating the Flyers that a team came back from 3-1 down in the semis.
Without a doubt when you have a chance to finish off a team you do it as soon as possible. I feel as long as they stay out of the penalty box the Rangers are simply the better 5 on 5 team. As last night showed you simply cannot maintain momentum when you're constantly killing penalties.
eh, in a playoff series the next game is always the "most important". GM 1 is the "most important" b/c you want to start the series ahead, Gm 2 is the "most important" b/c you don't want to go down 0-2, or you want to go up 2-0. Gm 3 is then the "most important" and so on. I thought we'd win in 5 and we should. This taking 6 would be frustrating after Gm 4's win where we literally broke their back after they almost dove their way into a tied series.

No one will argue with any of you guys. Yes we want to win game 5 for all the reasons mentioned. Let's get it done. But if by some chance Montreal has a big effort at home in game 5, we just need to be sure and win game 6. That would be the almost must win game IMO (can't be fully a must win with a game 7 left if needed).
