I think the last two games on the road trip are the toughest two. I would be happy with a split and a 4-1 road trip. I'd love to get tonight though, especially since Vancouver played last night as mentioned.
I know it is a newsflash, but there are two teams trying to win and playing the game. The fans of the other team also expect their team to be perfect like sone of you guys expect the Rangers to be. Vancouver is a good team, and the Rangers are on a long road trip. Not their best game no doubt, but not every game will be in a long 82 game season. Hung in there and found a way despite some sloppy play. I was happy when they got to OT and added another point on the trip, to get the 2nd point with the OT win was gravy to me. 8 for 8 points wise through 4 games on the trip is awesome, and for the most part the team has played well. Long way to go, but a lot to feel good about right now as a Rangers fan.
The bottom six is so bad. You get zero production from them. Just useless. If not for special teams this team wouldn't win this game.
Yes, they won this game due to special teams. Vancouver essentially scored all their goals on special teams as well; their 3rd goal was at the end of a PP where they still controlled the puck. This was a special team's game. You write it like it is some inditement that this was a special team's game. They didn't have their best game tonight and found a way. That happens in the regular season. I like 2/3rds of the 4th line. Bonino is a good 4th line C. Goodrow is a solid 4th line player. Need some perspective, a lot of teams lack depth, and if you look at the Rangers their depth is better than most. Go look at other teams bottom 6. Trocheck and Wheeler should be a good duo to have on your 3rd line, but Wheeler has not looked good. Maybe he is done, or maybe after playing forever in Winnipeg it will take him time to adjust to a new team. I truthfully don't know, but I'll give him more than 8 games to find out. Big picture, the FO #'s, the puck control #'s, offensive zone time #'s, and shot #'s are good. They have played really well in 4 or 5 of 8 games. Had one awful game against Nashville. And 2 or 3 decent/okay games. Solid to start, and 6 of 8 have been on the road.
I really want Wheeler to have a good year and be an integral piece, but he looks very sluggish to this point.
